We stayed here for 9 nights. Love the location close to lake and eat street. Our room had great views of the lake, was very comfortable and we slept well. The bathroom needed some attention. The shower was difficult to manage as it squirted everywhere and the fittings were rusted.The indoor pool and thermal tubs are great for relaxing but some body wash in the showers would be handy. Breakfast buffet was disappointing and now overpriced. The use of communal butter and condiments with a communal knife poses health risks. Coffee machine was always needing some adjustment. Hot options, particularly eggs, were very limited. In spite of this we did enjoy our stay.

I only gave this hotel 2 stars because I’m at breakfast and very frustrated. This hotel caters to tour groups and I myself am in a group touring New Zealand. They have one multifunction coffee machine (makes cappuccinos/lattes/espressos etc). There are over 100 people getting breakfast so the line to get coffee is very long. To add to that, the machine constantly needs service (clean grounds, add milk) and you have to find staff to do that. A lot of people just give up. I asked a staff member why there was only the one machine and was told I could buy a coffee for $6 if I wanted to. Breakfast was included on my booking. Why not add a second machine or even a coffee urn? This does not seem up to the Novotel standards of other hotels I’ve stayed at in Europe!

Reception staff don’t have name badges so don’t know who you’re dealing with. Rooms are sparse. Bed had bugs, I was bitten overnight woke up with hives. Bathrooms are old & dated, wall mounted shower which sprayed everywhere but central. Had to climb into the tub to shower. No milk in the fridge for a cup of tea. Not even a piece of paper & pen to write something down on. the barcode for the hotel information didn’t work & when i tried to call room service no one answered. Finally after checking out & my company paying my bill, my cc got charged someone else’s room charges & parking fee for 2days 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ safe to say I won’t be going back there for sure.

Dingy rooms

The lobby looked nice but the rooms were very dingy. The sheets had mascara on them, the couch was stained, and the trash can had gunk on the bottom. We had to ask the front desk for a shower curtain because there wasn’t one! We were glad this was the last stop of our trip because we were ready to go home. However, people at the front desk were nice and filled up our water bottles for us when we inquired where to get water.

What happened? Saturday October 5. No towels at pool - multiple requests over couple of hours. Room not serviced till 5.30pm. Spoke to another family who didn’t get to check in till 7.30pm. Staff doing their best but no one knew what was going on.
