We arrived from the Sofitel Barú (amazing in every way) sadly it was pouring with rain for our 2 days here. Our room room had a musky smell. it was a ground floor accessible room - unsure why we were allocated this so you had to bend down to turn the shower on and the shower design is poor - water escapes into the bathroom so we had to use towels to stop the water. The bed was comfortable, room was spacious, air con worked well. We had a small terrace looking out to some plants and a walkway.. Breakfast was buffet style and had a decent variety of warm and cold stuff. The pool and pool area is lovely, the bar is really nice and has lovely staff. Some of the staff such as the pool staff and reception staff were very professional and friendly. The doormen in particular were not so… maybe the rain made them grumpy.. it’s a beautiful hotel - we enjoyed our stay here.

We have enjoyed many wonderful cocktails and great music at our hotel bar. The service is very attentive. Julian has been delightful to talk with and has been an excellent source for drink options.

The pool staff and hotel staff have been nothing short of amazing. Their kindness and desire to help comes off as genuine. I really appreciated how they all made us feel at home. We interacted with Oscar P. and Seith at the pool and the butler Luis. That said everyone else was just as great.

My wife and I spent two nights here at the end of our swing through Colombia. We had a beautiful suite and really enjoyed the hotel. The perks for being a Diamond member were extremely generous. The hotel is in old town with a beautiful pool and several bars and restaurants. They have an ATM and even a money exchange desk with reasonable exchange rates. We used suite upgrades to book a colonial suite. At check-in they upgraded us to a duplex suite due to my Diamond status. It was much larger than the suite I had booked. It was on two floors, had two full bathrooms and was beautiful. I received chocolates, fresh fruit and champagne for being a Diamond member. These were the most generous welcome gifts I’ve ever received for Diamond status. The young woman who checked us in and out, Karem, was a real delight. She spoke perfect English and was professional and personable. She made a great first impression on behalf of the hotel. The porter took our bags to the room and gave us a rundown of the hotel and the room. He told us that someone would bring luggage racks and that our butler would be contacting us. We never got the luggage racks. I’ve been to a couple of hotels that have a butler service and have grown quite skeptical of hotel butlers. Once again my skepticism was merited. The Sofitel really hypes their butler service. I received several emails in advance of our visit promoting it. The butler can unpack your bags, help with dinner reservations, shine shoes, etc. We checked in at 1:30 and didn’t hear from them until 7:45. A group of 4 butlers sent me a joint text saying that they were available, if needed. Not exactly personal service or timely. After the disappointing start we didn’t bother using them. Much ado about nothing. Breakfast was very good with hot local dishes and baked goods being the highlight. The atmosphere was a little hectic for my liking, though. Lots of servers running around like chickens with their heads cut off. None of them ran in to me but there were several close calls with no apologies. We had dinner at their Jardin restaurant. Food and service were very good. Housekeeping and turn-down service were great. The hotel isn’t perfect but we loved our stay, especially the suite. Recommended.
