An ok, generic city hotel

Stayed for two nights over a sightseeing weekend - our first time in Budapest. The hotel was easily accessed from the airport via the express which makes it's first stop in the city just across the road from the hotel (one of the reasons I chose it). We arrived very early and were informed our room would not be available until 3pm, we were able to leave our bags in the luggage room until then. We returned before 3pm and I asked again if there was any chance of being able to check-in, I was told that I could, but for a 10EUR charge. I agreed to this, but in the end I was not charged. I don't understand why a hotel that has the room type I have booked which is clean and ready to be occupied would be charged for, it wasn't like I was trying to check in before noon when the previous occupants might still be there, but anyway. First impressions of the communal areas were good, reception is located in a small atrium with some seating, warm decor and the staff were pleasant. There is a bar/restaurant in the far corner as well as card-key accessible toilets. It looked quite well presented overall. Our room was on the 7th floor and faced the side street with the footbridge across to the other side of the hotel. We had a twin room. It was adequate in size for the length of our stay, but that would be my limit. Beds were comfortable, the room was quiet, we had a mini-fridge for drinks (small well stocked mini-market across the street for buying drinks and snacks), free electronic safe and enough storage for our needs. It was fine, nothing special, but acceptable. The bathroom was pretty small, it featured a bath with shower over, sink and toilet. There were some complimentary shampoo, and shower gel dispensers. The bath itself has no grip to the bottom of it, and no bath mat was provided. I did slip in the bath on the last morning and slammed my back hard against the back of the bathtub. I don't recommend this set-up at all. Had I slipped the other way, I probably would have hit the glass shower screen and who knows how that would have ended up. I found the communal corridors in the hotel very warm, at least for us on floor 7, but other than that I have no other issues with recommending this hotel if you wish to stay close to transport links. We mostly used Bolt for car rides rather than deal with the trams and subway. Bolt seemed easy and reasonable. There are a few nice bars and restaurants to the right as you exit the hotel, if you follow this direction you will eventually cross a very busy street before you reach the start of the main shopping and commercial area. Budapest however has lots of different centres, the Jewish quarter must be visited.

A decent Budapest Hotel

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour and overall found it to be modern and clean. The front desk staff was helpful and professional and the amenities were top notch. The rooms were updated and modern but they did lack chargers for electronics. So bring adapters/ chargers if you plan to stay here. The other negative was the breakfast. The food itself was plentiful and good, but they had a sign posted you could be charged ten Euros if you brought any food out of the dining area. As someone who likes to eat a small breakfast and bring something like a bagel or piece of fruit back to my room for later, I found this annoying. I did see a few people take food from the dining area and they were not stopped, but I did not want to take the chance. The location was wonderful and we were within walking distance to many tourist attractions.

Room was clean specially the bathroom. Breakfast is great as well as servers in the breakfast room. Things went sour when a group of chinese gathered near the reception desk (5 or 6 of them) started screaming (literally) at each other and when I approached one of the ladies at reception asking if she could advise the group to stop screaming at each other her response was “if it continues, she’ll do something,,,,!” Well, a few minutes ensued and so my wife and 4 friends just moved away from the reception area. That was last night and this morning a sign was posted at each elevator advising for guests to have breakfast at 6:30AM because of the Beijing Delegation,,,,,,,some PREFERRENTIAL TREATMENT IN MY OPINION!!! This is wrong !!!!

酒店的位置很好，离国家博物馆、多瑙河都比较近。服务也可以。唯一影响体验的是，由于我的粗心，退房时忘记还有一套西装在衣柜里，上午退房后到下午5点多离开布达佩斯，都没有收到酒店的提醒。回国这么多天，也没有任何关于遗漏西装的消息。

Mercure korona is a good hotel, we had s great stay here. Location is awesome as you are just 100 meters away from metro station and tram station. Staff was good but some had challenge with English language. Breakfast spread was great. Room size was small, but the room was cozy. There were restaurants and shops around and the main city square and market street were all within walking distance.
