I stayed at Novotel Budapest Centrum on May 1st and was genuinely surprised at how poorly things were managed for a hotel under the Accor brand. From the moment I arrived, the service felt disorganized and indifferent. The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and uninterested — no warm welcome, no information offered unless asked directly. The room was not ready at check-in time despite prior confirmation, and I had to wait nearly an hour without so much as an apology. When I finally got to the room, it was clear that only minimal attention had been paid during cleaning — surfaces were dusty, and the bathroom looked rushed through. For a 4-star hotel, that’s simply not acceptable. Even basic amenities like bottled water and toiletries were missing, and it took two separate calls to reception to get them delivered. It felt like I was inconveniencing them just by asking for the essentials that should’ve been there to begin with. What’s most frustrating is that there’s no sense of urgency or accountability when things go wrong. For the price and the brand, I expected far better.

The hotel is clean, spacious and modern. It’s located in a beautiful building in the centre of the Hungarian capital. The dining room is quite spectacular. The buffet breakfast has great variety. It’s also very close to Metro line 2. The staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us change rooms, because of the loud traffic of the Main Street. Amazing stay!

Central localization with a walking distance to all main attractions. Big and nice renovated rooms with a very comfortable bed. However, breakfast is extremely average and in case you would like to get something different way they charge extra or forget about your order :( For a long time it was my favorite spot in Budapest … probably time to change or may give the second chance.

Very nice refurbished rooms, but beware hot and no real Aircon

The location is very central with loads of public transportation nearby to get anywhere in the city. Reception are very friendly and helpful, this will soon be changed into a Movenpick hotel ( and Ibet prices will go up!) . It's recently been refurbished and it is a delightful inside the corridors are like a green colour and rooms with high ceilings-and very nicely done out. The only trouble is we arrived when it was 18° outside in April and the room is 25° I turned on the air-conditioning and all it was doing was blowing warm air. When I called reception, they said they can only heat the room or cool it - In in the winter the system is designed only for heating and in the summer is designed only for cooling. So I said my room has been 25°, I have left the blower on for at least half an hour and it hasn't changed a tour in fact it's gone up a bit. Can I have a fan to cool it down? They said no sorry we don't have a fan. So that was a bit of a negative and the the room stayed really hot all the time even with the window open, you are limited as how far you can open the window. Even when the temperature outside on the other days dropped to about six or 7° It was still very hot in the room 24 degres. So I don't quite know what is going on there. But just a warning if you are in there this time of the year in the spring when they haven't switched from heating to cooling, then you won't be able to cool your room down. Other than that it was great breakfast was really good and about £16 GP was good value and yes very very clean everywhere. I would return again but I would make sure festival they have the air-conditioning sorted out. As I say cannot afford reception they are very helpful. The public care is a very clean the new bar is very nice and the restaurant/breakfast area has a high ceiling and is beautifully decorated.

Staff were so friendly and helpful. Even surprised my husband with a birthday cake! Room was very clean. It was a bit warm at night but not too uncomfortable. The hotel was lovley and quiet too, despite being near a busy junction. Hotel was in a great location for exploring the city. I'd definitely book here again.
