It’s a poorer cousin of Sofitel Winter Palace in terms of the Nile views and lavishness but it’s also not as expensive in terms of tariff when compared to Sofitel. Sofitel has your old world charm at a different level. Both are older properties though. They share the gardens and the pool and some restaurants as well. We chose the Pavillon over Sofitel primarily due to price point. And honestly we were happy with our choice. Large rooms with ample closet space. Large bathroom and big balconies with partial Nile view. We also loved the fluffy big towels. Breakfast was good and its proximity to the Nile front meant that we could walk down to any of the restaurants outside hotel for our evening meal. The food and drink prices in both hotels are fairly high. Breakfast starts at 5:30 am which is great as it allows guests to grab a bite before starting their day. Weather during day was still hot so we had an early start all days. There is no gym but pool is great. The pool staff is very prompt with towels etc. Housekeeping did great job during our stay and overall we had a great stay.

The bathroom in this hotel has no shower curtain, which is very strange, and the water temperature keeps fluctuating between hot and cold. On top of that, the staff didn’t offer any help with our luggage at all. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

Continuing a Stay of a Lifetime for Friends

We moved to the Pavilion after 3 nights at the Winter Palace, as I wanted friends to see there was a cheaper alternative, still with access to the Winter Palace facilities. After the old world charm and luxury of the old hotel I did worry they might see the more modern Pavilion as a step down, but thanks to the superb service offered by all staff, and the excellent accommodation provided, I can safely say they loved their time at the hotel and, as with the Winter Palace, a return is definitely on their agenda (my only regret is that it took so many years to convince them that this trip was something they had to do).

We had a wonderful stay at the Pavillon Winter Luxor. The gardens are absolutely stunning and provide a calm escape right in the heart of Luxor. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a lovely balcony overlooking the greenery. The staff were polite and helpful throughout our stay, and the breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of fresh options. The location next to the historic Winter Palace is perfect for visiting Luxor Temple and the Corniche. Great value for money and very quiet at night — we’ll definitely return!

Our 2nd experience of a Sofitel, Udaipur India the first, did not disappoint. All staff members were very attentive from our cleaner, reception staff to those at the restaurants. Those at the pool side and restaurant under Mahmoud’s guidance were exceptional. We also visited the main hotel and had excellent service. Would love to come again
