Charming historical well located hotel with fab pool

Had a 1 night stay at winter palace as we wanted to take in the iconic palace during our Nile cruise ….for me I loved the heated outside pool (service here for drinks etc was very limited) and we had garden view with terrace really charming and well equipped …the horse and carriages outside we paid £20 for a tour of the medina and around Luxor centre …well worth it ….breakfast was lovely very Egyptian I thought….for casual dining of an evening it was cold outside at bbq restaurant so we ended up in a lounge it was nice snack and drinks but when you look around the decor and furnishings could do with some restoration ….i wouldn’t want us to lose this fabulous hotel to a bling or modern style hotel but it would be lovely to see it restored to it’s former glory ….would I recommend …yes if only for the history and iconic stay that it gives ……

The hotel location is wonderful, right by the Nile. Our suite had a view of the Nile,witnessed the hot air balloons in the early morning, the boats sailing in the afternoons, the cruise ships docked, the locals enjoying the evenings. The staff is very nice, everyone, from the doorman to the one cleaning our room daily. The breakfast staff are all very attentive, and pleasant. They even paid attention to my husband’s favorite falafel that they just asked if he wanted one as soon as we stepped in to the dining hall! And they gave him plenty! Unfortunately we couldn’t tip everyone as we were running extremely low on cash. Regarding the hotel facility, it might help ‘modernize’ the rooms if the carpets are replaced/removed. I have to admit the sound proofing is not very good and having a Nile view room we can hear all the street noise, even the room next door closing their doors. I can sleep through it but my husband cannot. Anyway, it was still quite a pleasant stay!

This place is a marvelous place. Everything is more than perfect. People are so nice. Rooms is large, clean with a view on the garden. The garden is huge. The pool is unbelievable. Food is perfect for breakfast or at the restaurant near the pool. Second time I was here and just want to go another time. Thank you for all.

Excellent location attentive staff and a fab stay! We stayed for 3 nights in an opera suite which was lovely if not a bit in need of renovation, but that did have a kind of charm from long ago! The pool is lovely and the grounds were fab, decorated in Christmas lights it was really magical. Only downside was the bed was quite uncomfortable but the staff did come and try to make this better with extra bedding! Nothing was too much effort. Would definitely stay here again!
