Oh dear. Well I paid $278 for one night and I got a much better deal at a country pub last week where it was quite, clean and reasonable for under $100 which is not the case here. Street noise is not what I expected. TV is so old and I can’t stream my apps like I could at the pub. TV remote control is horrible and not fit for purpose. Carpet is dirty. Room looks like it’s never been painted since new. No microwave. Fridge doesn’t fit the cupboard properly Room is small for price. In the bar area downstairs it was freezing. Had to go back to my room to get a jumper! No hand lotion in the bottle in bathroom. No hand rails in the bathroom or shower. For the price definitely not worth it.

Expensive hotel where nothing seems to work.

What a terrible hotel, all its systems seem to be broken. Just booking the hotel is difficult, no one on site can take a booking on a Sunday and the booking service you’re directed to is closed. Check in is even more difficult, staff under training can’t answer any questions about the room and aren’t able to sign you up for parking. Most of the information about the booking appears incorrect. Setting up wifi requires you to take the pay option, hopefully undertakings that it will not be charged at checkout are correct. Unruly arguing neighbours aren’t the hotels fault but when they go on their balcony to smoke dope why is our room suddenly full of weed smell. No coffee machine in the room despite being an expensive hotel. Power points at the bed where they are needed are covered up by the bed side tables, requiring furniture to be moved around. No one answers calls to desk or house keeping, just getting some milk to make our own coffee seems impossible. Pretty much every time you need to interact with this hotel, it’s broken.

What a great Hotel- the staff - the food the beds! This was a great hotel and the. Price and location was just right! 15 min walk from the train station- 2 mins to the beach- The room was extra clean and well kept.

As an All Accor explorer member, who makes a lot of money for my membership, I’d have to say my stay the Novotel is the first time I’ve questioned if I was worth it. The hotel itself is nice enough, only a few minor issues that I didn’t even feel was worth mentioning to them. However the treatment my girlfriend and I received in North Bar on our last night there, from the manager herself made the whole experience just feel disgusting and unwelcoming. Changed my whole view of the hotel and is now safe to say we will not return, if that’s the kind of staff you choose. Earlier that same day we had the loveliest experience with the blonde girl from the pool bar, and the Asian girl who was working at north bar during the day, they were so kind and welcoming and didn’t once make you feel like a hassle, they felt like they truely wanted to help. One of them should be the manager.

We love staying at the Novotel when in Shellharbour. The area is beautiful and it is easy to stroll to the beach. The train station is also at a walk-able distance. But there are plenty of cabs available, that you can arrange via the hotel. The only downside to the overall area is the lack of good restaurants. However, the facilities at the Novotel itself more than make up for it. The bar has the nicest Espresso Martini's we have tasted anywhere so far. The ambience of the bar area downstairs with a fireplace is very relaxing. The on-site restaurant hosts a nice breakfast, and has a good selection of options for dinner. Also a few vegetarian options which is great. I recommend sitting inside though as the area has an abundance of ibis birds that swoop in on people dining during the warmer months. The wait staff and coffee bar attendants are always happy to help as well. Room service was quite good. On one occasion they accidentally forgot some items of our order but so kind to offer bringing them up later with no extra charge. The front desk staff is are also very friendly, and helpful when we had a leak from the AC, which got fixed in no time. We will definitely come back to the Novotel Wollongong again.
