They put us in a room next to one that was being completely reconstructed. Hammers and hammer drills all through the day. The response to our complaint was to offer a us a bottle wine as compensation! We rejected this. They should have arranged a different room instead of spoiling our visit. V. disappointing.

We stayed here as part of a Viking Cruise itinerary. The breakfast was great, the common area decor lovely, the room very adequate (albeit somewhat spartan. for instance, the WC has a lovely niche shelf that is bare). Why 5 stars? Today, as we returned to the hotel, my wife realized she had misplaced her purse. Robin, another manager, Olivia from Viking, , and 2 staff were actively involved in communicating with restaurants and shops were we might have left it, and explaining things far better than I could have in broken French. Meanwhile, 2 bartenders and another manager were helping interpret data and figure out who to call or where the purse might be. Ultimately, we tracked her iPhone to La Rotunde, about a half kilomètre away, where we had caught a cab. Robin walked (quite briskly, I might add) guiding me back there. By the time we got there, the phone was moving. Robin interviewed a cabbie as to what company we had hired, figured out what cab company I had paid, called the dispatcher who sent a blast to all of her drivers and giving his number. It wasn’t more than 5 minutes before he got a call from our cabbie who was already en route back to La Rotunde. Five minutes later, I had her purse. In all of my travels, I have never been at a property where so many staff went to such lengths to help us remedy our own gaffe. This was more and better caring service than I have ever experienced in any of my travels. Too hot? The thermostat in our room worked perfectly. Inconvenienced? The remodel continues and I am dying to see the new rooms. Un grand merci au personnel du Grand Hôtel Roi Réne pour leur soutien attentionné et gracieux. Et tu, Olivia.

Hotel room was like a sauna. Far too hot and uncomfortable to sleep. We were told all rooms were the same temperature with no individual control. It felt as though I was staying in the peak of summer rather than February. Otherwise, location was good, reception staff were friendly, room was clean. Hotel felt quite corporate with little atmosphere.

Booked a one night stay and checked in successfully online s day before.. However on arrival today was told by the manager that there was no room as the new owner had decided to start renovations earlier than originally planned and my allocated room was therefore unavailable. At the very least i might have expected to told about this before i arrived and offered a full refund. Instead they offered me a room in a hotel nearby which had a similar hotel rating but simpler facilities and a lower daily rate. Very poor show for a 4 star hotel and not what i would expect as a Gold status Accord Club member

You should have indeed been informed in advance, and we take your feedback very seriously in order to prevent such situations from occurring in the future. Regarding the alternative accommodation, we sought the best solution to minimize the disruption, but we understand that it did not meet your expectations, particularly as a Gold member of the Accor Club. Please rest assured that we are taking all necessary steps to improve our communication and services. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again for a better experience in the future.

We visited in July as a family of 4. Great location to explore the city centre- close to restaurants and coffee shops. Limited parking on site but public parking across the road. Staff superb. Great breakfast. Really enjoyed the pool area. Would recommend.
