Hotel is exceptionally clean and rooms are well looked after. Restaurant serves a great range of high quality dishes catering for both non-veg and veg with different buffet themes every night. Restaurant staff and chefs are friendly, welcoming and delightful with special mention to Will and his team for making every night so welcoming. Beach area has good amenities and was well looked after including beds which were a plenty during our stay. Improvements can be made on housekeeping which didn't always deliver the turn down service or adequate towels unless requested. However, I must add all requests were quickly followed up without delay. One of the ladies on beach towel duty looks like she didn't want to be there and never presented with a smile or a willingness to converse but she was an exception to all the other staff we encountered and interacted with. A great selection of nautical activities included free of charge but not very well advertised to guests. The young boys at the nautical centre should be better trained to deliver the important safety instructions when at sea in English as well as in French. All water equipment was well maintained and appeared to be of good quality. Purchasing drinks at the hotel is very expensive and couldn't understand why an additional surcharge was added for drinks purchased at the beach side restaurants or pool bar by staying guests; seems unfair and unjust when you've already paid a premium for staying at the hotel. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and compliment all the staff for making each day memorable with their tentative and happy nature.

Worst and most unprofessional staff . They make you feel embarrassed for basic things you want and even don’t help . Behavior with my family was worst and we were 9 guests for the stay . Specifically receptionist ladies were hell to ask anything. Also for few tourists they help to do bookings and for us they denied . Felt racist

There are many nice qualities of this Hotel but I am afraid it just does not quite hit the mark as a 5 star Hotel. It is potentially a 5 star hotel but it needs some of the ragged edges addressed to make it truly a 5 star experience. We enjoyed our 11 night stay overall and accepted the rough with the smooth. The roughest part was our check out which was the worst we had ever experienced in any of the hotels we stayed at. The Spa, The Jacaranda restaurant and the Lobster night were truly 5 star and we thoroughly recommend. The buffet restaurant had different themes each night and we found the food of a good quality. The hotel is located on a lovely west coast beach where you can watch the sun go down with spectacular sunsets. The hotel layout and grounds has a nice ambiance and the swimming pools were of a decent size. We liked our room's layout and it was well equipped. The Gym is fairly well equipped but could do with another exercise bike or two. The staff in all departments were lovely overall and one of the hotels strongpoints but there seemed to be a lack of management occasionally. There is no one greet you at the buffet restaurant's entrances to show you to a table so you just approach the serving staff, they find you a table and it is the same system at breakfast. Didier and Elijah who served us in the Jacaranda restaurant and on the Lobster Night were very good and their service was a credit to the hotel. Noella seemed to be the hotel grafter and seemed to pop up serving in different bars and restaurants throughout our stay. So now to mention some of the minor things that could have been better. The Arrival. We were greeted as the taxi dropped us off and the lady was lovely as were nearly all of the front desk staff. We are Accor members and generally in their hotels you are greeted as such, we do not expect it but it is nice when it happens. On this occasion it did not happen although it was written on their paperwork. The lady who took payment for the room was not the most welcoming but I guess we can all have a bad day. The Room Bed was fine, Shower performance good, bath, twin basins, walk in wardrobe, safe and everything you would expect in a Sofitel. On the last day the shower tray flooded and was slow to drain away. That evening the air con broke down but the staff immediately bought a good quality portable unit to remedy the situation. The room phone kept clicking during the night even when disconnected. Smothered with a towel and reported and fixed the next day. The room cleaning was ok most days but the floor seemed grubby of a couple of occasions. Some of the repainting in the room looked like poor quality decorators had been employed. It was rumoured that the hotel is due to be refurbished in 2025. Beach front service The drink service to your sunbed was almost non existent most days and it was easier to walk to the bar and order. When Samuel was on duty it seemed to be better. Maybe an investment is needed into a phone app like other hotels use. The adult pool bar was always manned and ok but there are patches tiles missing on the pool floor which gives an impression that a refurbishment is needed. The free snorkelling boat trip's organisation on board was a bit cavalier. Some of the masks and snorkels were in a need of repair and it was obvious that they had not been cleaned in-between the previous party's use. The remainder of the water sports equipment and organisation was good. Checking out We can accept that people have different systems of doing things but the billing at this hotel could be better to avoid errors and confusion. We were not informed at check in that there is a credit limit on charging items to the room. With 3 days left of our stay we were presented with a bill that we had to settle before anything else could be added to the room. After having this explained to us at reception we settled the outstanding bill immediately. When we came to the final check out, we found we had been charged twice because there was an overlap of the two bills. This took over 45 minutes to try and correct and made us 15 minutes late for our airport pick up. The main problem in trying to resolve the issue was the lady who took the room payment on our arrival just could not or would not see the error. Even the hotel manager became involved but it resulted in us just paying the bill so we got to the airport on time. So in summary, we enjoyed our stay and it is a nice hotel but with a bit of work it could be a great hotel.

Dirtiest 5* ever

This was the dirtiest 5-star hotel I have ever stayed at. I believe the hotel has lost at least 2 stars over the past 20 years since its opening. When we checked in, we initially thought our room had been accidentally given to us without being cleaned. We were moved to another room, only to realize with horror that this level of dirtiness seems to be the hotel’s standard. The property itself is okay, but the beach is full of algae. The food is acceptable, as long as you’re not getting pooped on by the birds flying around. The New Year’s Eve celebration was a total rip-off—despite having booked half board, we were charged an additional €260 per person for the buffet dinner. Overall, I am shocked that this hotel is still allowed to be rated as 5 stars.

Negligent at best

Unfortunately after a very nice stay at the Partner Hotel on Mauritius, the SO Sofitel, our stay at the L‘Imperial was not nice at all. We decided to make check out early at our loss and move back to the SO, with no help or support from the negligent staff at the Sofitel L‘Imperial. We didn‘t feel like welcome guests but like some paying custumors at best. Unpersonal check in, then charged us double and way too much for the New Years Party, being charged for extra coffee pads in the big opera suite, fungus in the newly renovated shower, no turndown service never during our stay, loud, hectic and messy atmosphere during breakfast and dinner, dripping wet soaked sunloungers, no water bottle service in the suite but fountain in the hallway like in a 3 Star hotel… amongst many other disturbing ecperiences. The hotel does not feel like 5 star, I would give it a 3-4 The only nice people who made us feel welcome were Brigitte and her team in the kids club.
