I guess I got the worst room in the whole hotel. On arrival I waited for someone from the hotel come take our luggage, after 10 minutes of wait I carried all my luggages as well as those of my son inside. Now the hotel room, no toiletries. I had to ask for soap, slippers. They clean the room at 3, towels were removed but not replaced. I asked for towels they said someone will deliver, but it never came. No more tea or coffee on the second day, On second night I wanted to watch a movie on the TV, to my surprise TV not working 😢.

We recently stayed at Sofitel Mauritius L’Impérial Resort & Spa and had a truly wonderful experience from start to finish. The resort itself is beautiful, well maintained, and perfectly located, but what really made our stay exceptional was the people. A very special thank you to Vanish from Guest Services, professional, warm, and genuinely helpful. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and his support made our stay seamless and stress-free. We also want to extend a huge thank you to Veen and the poolside service team. They went above and beyond, especially with our children. Vin was incredibly thoughtful. The level of care made a big difference for our family and allowed us to truly relax. The poolside service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive, and consistently friendly. The team made our children feel welcome and looked after, which says a lot. Overall, this was a 5-star experience in every sense. We left feeling genuinely looked after and would absolutely return. Highly recommended for families and anyone who values great service.

A tropical paradise

We got off to a poor start with some items in the room not working and some advertised features not there. We had to make several phone calls to reception and at one point had four members of staff in the room fixing and sorting things out…. the last thing we wanted after a very long travel day. However, after a good nights sleep and things fixed and in place, we ended up absolutely loving this place. The room had recently been refreshed and was bright, clean and spacious. The bed was super comfy and the bedding soft and luxurious. Excellent shower and separate bath with high-end toiletries. The various housekeeping staff were lovely, especially the guy who restocked the teas and coffees. You’re given a couple of reusable water bottles to start with then you top them up using the filtered water stations dotted around the resort. An excellent feature. The tropical beach and lush grounds are well looked after by the many ground staff and we were treated to some perfect sunsets from our patio where we also enjoyed watching the local wildlife from. The breakfast and evening buffets gave a good variety and there’s always plenty of staff on hand. It’s not the most polished of 5* resorts but more than makes up for it with its feeling of stepping back in time to a more leisurely and relaxed way of life. This was only a short stay but we’re looking forward to having a longer holiday there next summer. Can’t wait!

A truly five star hotel. All staff are outstanding and do everything to ensure a perfect stay. Relchalata in breakfast is so very kind and wants guests to be happy. She makes excellent omelettes too.

Very dissapointing resort

The only positive element of my stay was the politeness of the hotel staff. Unfortunately, that courtesy did nothing to compensate for an experience that fell shockingly short of even basic 5-star standards. 1. Zero assistance on arrival. My wife and I reached the hotel around 8:30 pm. There was no one at the entrance. I had to walk nearly 30 metres to the lobby to request help while my wife stood outside alone for more than five minutes before anyone bothered to assist. 2. Reception had no clue about my reservation. Both the receptionist and another lobby staff member appeared completely confused when I gave them my name. They behaved as though my reservation did not exist until I showed them my confirmed booking on the ALL Accor App. 3. Pointless paperwork despite online check-in. I had already checked in online, and all my details were available through the Accor system. I was still asked to fill out forms manually. Only after I insisted did they agree that a signature was sufficient—exactly what should have happened in the first place. 4. Incorrect and dismissive handling of reward points. When I requested to settle my stay using my Reward Points, I was told—incorrectly and rather rudely—that I should have made the booking “accordingly.” As a long-time Accor Gold member, I have never faced such an obstacle anywhere in the world. Only after wasting over 10 minutes did the hotel “agree” to apply my points. 5. Unacceptable 20-minute check-in. After a long international flight and a long taxi ride, being subjected to a 20+ minute check-in—after having completed online check-in—is simply unacceptable. 6. No welcome drink. Room upgrades are subject to availability, but a welcome drink for Gold members is standard. It was not offered. 7. No dining options. We were told only the main restaurant was open and that the choice was either the buffet or room service. A resort of this category should never restrict guests to a buffet when they want something light or à la carte. 8. Forced buffet again the next day. On Sunday, again, the only option was the buffet. A purported 5-star resort unable to offer even a single à la carte dining option is astonishing. 9. Late check-out request ignored. I requested a late check-out at the time of check-in and asked them to note it in the system. I was told to check again on my departure day. On the morning of departure, I was simply told it was “not possible” and that I must leave at the standard time. No effort, no courtesy, no flexibility. In summary: For a resort charging nearly €500 per night, the service, competence, and overall experience were far below even basic expectations. This stay was deeply disappointing and nowhere near the standard promised by a 5-star Accor property.
