Great hotel if you manage to get it for the right price - reception gave us a lovely welcome and a cheery goodbye, even the maintenance guy we shared a lift with was lovely and chatty - once you get the metro stations sorted it’s a great base to Explore Milan and the lakes - 5 minute walk to the metro station and across the road is a lovely take away pizza place if your to tired to go back out again, the wifi worked brilliant the bed and room was comfortable and clean - lovely hot Shower - if ever I came to Milan I wouldn’t have to think twice about staying here.

Room was fine for the 2 night stay, 2 single beds, good shower and generally clean enough. Check in was smooth and the reception staff were pleasant. Breakfast was fine with a good selection to choose from.....if you like your full English, you would be disappointed but the choices of breads, pastries and cold meats etc was good. I went for the bacon, scrambled egg, toast, and the small hot dog sausage, followed by croissants and pancakes, with coffee and plenty of fruit juice. This hotel is a 5 minute walk to Ca Granda metro stop. We felt safe even walking back at 11pm one night. The metro is so easy to understand, even my 13 year old boy had worked it all out with an hour of using it. We bought the 3 day ticket for the whole city for about 16 euro......saves all the hassle of buying lots of tickets. I'd stay in this hotel again if it was a little cheaper, I paid £120 a night for 2 people, but to be fair, hotels aren't cheap in Milan.

Wouldn’t advise anyone to stay here, the reason I’d rate it 2 stars rather than 1 is that the downstairs lobby has recently been renovated and looks nice, while the reception staff are friendly enough. But, once you’re up at the rooms, there’s an awful smell of stale cigarette smoke, the beds are uncomfortable with just one small thin pillow each, barely enough to raise your head up. Walls are paper thin and loud noises all night, almost impossible to sleep. Couldn’t get the Wifi or Aircon working, room was far too hot (in March, with the window open). Bar advertised throughout the hotel but this had previously shut down and signage not updated. Was advised to use bar in another hotel. Positives - Friendly reception staff, room was clean (albeit dated and in need of renovation) & location was good. Just beside tram & metro stop. It’s the quality Id expect from a 2 star hostel, with a higher pricepoint.

The second night in row it is a very noisy night and it not possible to sleep because of the people in the next rooms. They are also smoking cigarettes in the hallway. The reception’s staff is not helpful at all and they are not reacting to it. Just enough to come upstairs and check the hallway but they don’t want to LOL. It is shocking how they treat the customers and my complaints!!! My recommendation is TO AVOID THIS HOTEL FOR YOUR STAYING!!!!!

No in room internet with an excuse that it was under maintenance & would be fixed tomorrow but that never happened. Also no bar or restaurant just sent to Novotel next door - if they are not going to provide a service don’t advertise that the service exists - I have used ibis in multiple countries & this ibis is the worst
