I know that this hotel was used to house the boat arrivals for 5 years so was a bit apprehensive in booking online at it - but it advertised a gym and swimming pool and also stated it has had a full refurbishment last year when their current guests sailed away to their new houses On arrival reception and bar area looked nice and refreshing and reception guy was polite enough - and it was at this point it went downhill quicker than a full boat landing -asked about the pool as nowt was mentiined which shocked him how do you know we used to have one who told you etc The lift area was in need of a refurb the one and only lift that was working seemed to be the original interior when hotel was first built - room appeared to clean and tidy but no way has the room had a refurb 12 months ago- had a shower and the tray suddenly went into high tide water wasn't draining - basin also water wouldn't drain - reception came and fixed it - however horrible smell thru the drains in there Breakfast - i always go for the full scottishor English- we were tgere about 0730 so not long opened sadly the food must have been under the headlamp for hours - mushrooms that shrivelled unrecognisable - bacon was so hard knife wouldn't cut thru it - scramble egg looked like vomit and fried eggs looked as if they were cooked morning before - Toaster is definitely the original from day 1 as it took about 10mins on high to cook - breakfast a disaster I found all staff to be polite and courteous throughout our stay The prices that we paid for a room definitely wasn't worth it Would I go back - sadly no Would i recommend sadly no GW

Posh hotel and LGBTQI + friendly

This Hôtel respects non binary, intersex, transgender people and their pronouns. After a none too good stay in the Ibis hotel next to the train station in Marrakesh where they don’t respect people’s pronouns and gender identity this Novotel was a paradise. The Novotel is easy to find by public transport as you get the metro from Newcastle International airport and alight Kingston Park shopping centre or from Newcastle upon Tyne’s Eldon Square bus station you take Stagecoach bus services x47 and x78 which drop you close to the Novotel entrance . Novotel accommodation is usually out of my price range but got a good deal booking directly with them for under £60 on their website. Bright, posh lovely hotel and was given a disabled friendly room on the second floor and staff were extra friendly and supportive of the lgbtqi + community too on the night and morning shift as the smart television was difficult to use in my room and problem was sorted immediately. Massive room and super comfortable and much better than the hotels within walking distance of the airport terminal.

Stayed the night before flying out of Newcastle airport and left the car for 8 nights. Excellent value for money. Close to the airport and taxis cost around £15 each way. Our room was well-presented and spacious, with all the amenities we needed. Staff were, without exception, friendly, welcoming and helpful. We ate in the restaurant and whilst the food we had was good, we were disappointed that the full menu was not available as we had already made our choices from scanning the QR code in the room and neither of them appeared on the reduced menu. Had there been a notice somewhere advising of the reduced menu, it wouldn’t have been as disappointing. That’s the only reason I have given 4 stars and not 5 because everything else was perfect, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if flying from Newcastle airport.

Dogs barking through the night

Stayed here with family after arriving into Newcastle airport late at night. The rooms were adequate and clean, however, unfortunately none of us slept a wink due to a dog in the hotel barking during the night. At check out we asked if there was a dog staying in the hotel and the staff were unaware, however, we were advised this was the third complaint that morning. When you pay for a nights accommodation you expect to be able to sleep. Disappointed that this wasn’t dealt with during the night despite guests calling the reception desk. Still awaiting the promised call from manager when they were coming on shift later that day.

Hi Jo, Apologies for the noise pollution you experienced during your recent stay with us. Novotel is a globally pet friendly hotel brand which on occasion does have its challenges. Whilst pets are registered at check-in, I'm sure you can imagine some guests leave them out side only to smuggle in later to avoid paying the additional charge.
