Hotel Mercure Salzburg City is positioned midway between the main railway station ("Salzburg Hauptbahnhof") and the old city center, so it takes 10 to 15 minutes walking to reach either. I had a very good room, with a comfortable bed. Air conditioning worked very well and it was not noisy, and insulation from outside noise was very good. The bathroom was good, although smallish. Breakfast was very good, with several choices available. Free wi-fi worked well, and staff were helpful.

Nice hotel but out of the way it’s a good 15min walk to the start of the main shops when it was so hot it was a bit of a mission. Rooms were ok some nicer than others, downstairs in the bar for our drink voucher we had a nice bar Richard. Breakfast was ok $26 euro

Great hotel close to town with limited parking available. The hotel was clan and well looked after. The staff are helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Patricija who looked after several times including offering a free drink upon arrival as our room wasn't ready, but also gave us many helpful tips. The room itself was quiet and well equipped. Downstairs there is a large restaurant although didn't seem to be frequented much. We did eat there one night but unfortunately the waitress got our meals mixed up and seemed confused at taking orders. The meal we did get was okay but I think she may have been new on the job. The hotel itself is about 15 minute walk to the Mirabell Palace to give you an idea of walking times.

Great location, amazing service

I stayed with my sister for 4 nights here. Though the prices were slightly on the higher side, the service was great and location was ideal. We were walking distance to the Mirabell Palace and Gardens, as well as the Hauptbahnof or other public transportation services. They welcomed us with cakes and cookies in the room. To recognize the status, they also gave complimentary late check-out until 3 PM! The reception staff was very helpful.

Good hotel if you want a quiet base and easy walking distance into the old town (about 15 mins flat walk). Typical chain hotel, a little lacking in soul/character, but staff very friendly and went out of their way to provide us with milk and ice even when the bar was closed. Breakfast ok, not wow. However, two very good restaurants a few minutes walk away, one Italian (Beccofino) and an Indian opposite.
