Room was barebones, and not very large. Has all the basic amenities and needs met. Concierge often struggled when asked for basic things. It's in a great location.

I was very disappointed with my check-in experience. I called the day before I arrived to inquire about early check-in, and was told that if rooms were available, there would be no issue with checking in early. I was encouraged to come early and a fee was never mentioned. I arrived around 11:45am to check-in, was told there were rooms available but that I would be charged a $40 fee unless I waited 45 min and checked-in at 12:30 pm. This was ridiculous to me, based on it being less than an hour away and because of the phone call I had the day prior. I expressed this concern but was told there was nothing they could do. I had important work to do for a meeting (I was in Ottawa for business) and was really disappointed in this lack of accommodation. I come to Ottawa at least annually for business and will not be staying at the Novotel again, if I can help it.

My wife and I enjoyed the Novotel Ottawa City Centre. It was in proximity to many attractions across the City. Our only concern was that according to our booking, it stated that we paid for a king-sized bed with a pull-out couch, but instead we got setup with a room that had a king-sized bed but no pull-out couch. This was a bit concerning since we contemplated bringing our two kids with us but decided not to last minute. Thank goodness we didn't. Other than that, we really enjoyed our stay :).
