I had a very pleasant stay at the Ibis Douai Centre. The hotel is well located, clean, and comfortable – perfect for both short and extended visits. A special mention goes to the lady at the reception desk. She was incredibly professional, kind, and helpful throughout my stay. Her warm welcome and attention to detail made a real difference. It’s rare to come across such genuine and dedicated service – she truly represents the best of hospitality. Thank you for a great experience. I would definitely return and recommend this hotel without hesitation!

Centrally located hotel with friendly staff

This Ibis is run by a friendly, enthusiastic and helpful team. Parking is convenient outside the front of the hotel and it is in a quiet neighbourhood. Breakfast is good and the coffee excellent. It’s perfect for a stopover. The hotel is in an historic stone building dating from the 17th century, next to the old cannon foundry which closed in 1867 (this has a pleasant garden dating from 1990 which is easily accessible). Little of the old character of the hotel remains but the consequence of its age is that the positioning of windows is strange. They all have new good quality secondary glazing but the old wooden windows are scruffy and hard to maintain. It shows. Rooms have individual electric heaters but there is no air conditioning - I would not want to stay here in hot weather. The bathroom was the smallest I have experienced outside a cross-channel ferry. It worked OK though but as ever Ibis towels are a bit small and a bit thin. It’s a good hotel for a stopover - the beds are very comfortable and quiet - but unless you have a reason to be in Douai then Arras, Amiens or Lens are better options. Douai has little to offer the visitor apart from its spectacular belfry and the town itself is rather rundown.

Not bad at all

We stayed here for one night as guests of Renault and had a very pleasant and peaceful stay. Staff were very friendly and although our room was small, it was still very comfortable. There is a small bar area in reception which is welcoming. The lift is tiny but ok for two without much luggage. At busy times it is easier to use the stairs. When it comes to breakfast, this hotel has a better selection and choice than some more expensive establishments. We were really impressed. There is a car park outside and the hotel appears to be in a central location. Well worth staying here if in the area!

Not upto standard needs renovation..

The rooms I felt were overpriced. Small rooms with tiny bathrooms for a couple. It was an old bathroom which needed renovating. Old towels. 3 very tired pillows. Sheets unchanged after a 4 day stay. Thin walls. Leaves not swept up at the bottom of the steps at the entrance to the hotel. The entrance hall needed hoovering. The lift needed freshening up. It smelt. We stayed for rugby. The chambermaids did their best. Generally more cleaning required. Ideal for the centre. We have booked Le Torquet for March next year. 117 Euros a night !!..In a large new room.

A Pleasant Surprise

This hotel was so much better than we expected! Yes, the rooms are tiny but they are clean and have everything that is needed. The location is brilliant in the old town with free parking outside the front door. The best thing was the staff who, without exception were brilliant! The business meeting taking place in the room next door to the breakfast room was a bit off-putting but for a one night stay this hotel was perfect.
