Rude and disrespectful staff – worst service during our travels

I would like to file a formal complaint regarding my recent stay at ibis Avranches Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel. We stayed at this hotel at the end of our trip through France, and unfortunately, it left us with a very unpleasant impression. I have never encountered such rude, dismissive, and disrespectful behavior from hotel staff. It felt as though we were intruding on someone’s private space, rather than being welcomed guests. We chose Ibis specifically because it is an international hotel chain, expecting a consistent standard of service. However, the staff showed open disdain just because we spoke in English. In a tourist destination, it is unacceptable to treat international guests with such arrogance. The lack of basic English is one thing — but the attitude was what shocked us the most. As Canadian citizens, we were paying for a service and expected to be treated with respect. This experience was extremely disappointing and by far the worst we’ve had in many years of travel. I sincerely hope you take this complaint seriously and address the issue at this particular location. I will not be recommending this hotel or the Ibis chain to anyone in the future unless this kind of behavior is properly handled.

Stayed at the hotel for 8 days at a worktrip. The last day we were sitting outside, having some drinks, and the receptionist(owner) callled the police. Aparently she thought we were too loud, but instead of telling us to turn down the volume, she called the police straight away… Ealier we did ask her if we could sit outside, and she told us we could… Aparently the hotel 30 meters away, were owned by the same receptionist, and they were loud at that hotel. That became our problem. Basicly dont stay there if you dont speak french. The personel dont speak english, and the owner seems hostile. The police were nice though

Hello Sir, You are in bad faith! Our receptionist had several complaints from other guests. She asked you to turn down the volume! Something you didn't do... Regarding the hostility of our colleague, you are hypocritical since one of your colleagues insulted the police !

Hotel is OK. The rooms are quite small for an 'Ibis' - more like an 'Ibis Budget' - not much room down the side of the bed. Rooms have been renovated and bathroom is good. Check-in good and staff service throughout was good. Breakfast is just about OK - hot food needs to be kept hot and it wasn't. Close to Comptoir du Malt restaurant which is good as hotel resto was closed the evening we stayed.

Clean, comfortable, excellentStaff. No elevator.

Neat, clean little hotel. No elevator. Chosen for a brief 1 night stay before going to Mt-St-Michel. The Staff were pleasant and helpful. We arrived by Taxi from Rennes and took a Taxi to MSM. There didn’t seem much in the vicinity. It looked Industrial over residential. The spartan room made good use of space and it was comfortable. We went down to the Bar for a drink, and it was Happy Hour. Nice surprise and good Red. We didn’t stay for Breakfast.

Having stayed at IBIS hotels before, we chose this hotel expecting an inexpensive, clean, quiet, comfortable room. We were extremely disappointed in all accounts! The room smelled terrible from the moment we entered - we only stayed because it was late and this was their last room. The walls seemed to be paper thin - guest conversations went on late into the night. Staff were slightly courteous - but not friendly! Hmm…we’ll reconsider ever staying at IBIS again!
