Recently stayed for a night with wife and kids and while the actual hotel was good, the attempted theft left a bad-taste in my mouth. Booked on booking.com (and paid) and after a long and tiring trip we checked in and did the obligatory credit card swipe to block for room service. Only to find they charged us again despite paying already. Couldn't get a refund the next day because there wasn't a manager on duty, so had to chase it once we got back to UK. We aren't the first, when you look at other reviews, so looks like its their policy to try it on!! Disgusting - beware!

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We can assure you that this was in no way an attempted theft, but simply a human error. Upon your arrival, the receptionist failed to notice that we had received a virtual card from booking.com for payment. Once we became aware of this, we took the necessary steps and had the virtual card canceled with booking.com so that they could refund you. This shouldn't happen, I grant you, but to err is human. We booked because the hotel was in the center of town. Rooms were small but clean. Hotel had a program not to tidy and you get drink coupons. That was hit and miss. We ended up with one drink for each but participated 3 days. So it didn’t work out. Parking close by at a reasonable price. Scan ticket when you arrive versus when you leave. Lots of restaurants close by.

We keep on coming back to this place yearly due to the fantastic location. Staff is always nice and rooms are decent, always clean. Breakfast was kind of crowded this time and the selection was not as good as it has been before. Near to a great parking. We will most likely be back.

Had a very welcoming check in experience by a lovely young lady who explained everything in some detail to me including the car parking in the underground car park below. And how there was a special rate of €10 something for 2 hours there if the ticket was correctly validated, so I parked our car down there. Spent a lovely evening in town and upon checking out the following day presented my car park ticket for the expected validation to be told that I had to do that with the office at the car park. So I went there and explained that I was staying at the Ibis and needed the ticket validating and was directed to the cash machine. Which promptly charged me €34.40 for the privilege of 20 hours parking. I will be visiting Epernay again on my travels but will be staying well away from the centre. Either someone from the municipal car park needs to talk to the Ibis management, or vice versa, the Ibis management needs to talk to them. I obviously was not the first victim of this.

Dear Guests, We are sorry the staff at the parking did not explained you, you need to choose at the automatical machine the 24h package for 10.50 euros. My staff did well not the employee of the parking. it is there job to show you how to do that. Really sorry about that. best regards

Parking in the vast underground car park below the hotel was simple and cheap if paying for multiple days. The in and out access within the fee makes things so much simpler. Buying a weeks parking for our 4 nights was the most cost effective approach and allowed us to head out for a drive through the nearby vineyards on our 3rd day. Breakfast, bar etc all very functional. It’s a great place as a base, but not where you would want to spend an evening - and that is how it is set up. We loved the free drink if you didn’t get bedding and towels changed everyday.
