Bad service from front desk

I had a terrible experience at this hotel. Although check-in was relatively smooth, we left almost immediately to explore the city and have dinner. It was only when we returned around 9 p.m. that we discovered the air conditioning was not working. When I reported this issue to Hugo at the front desk, I was met with complete indifference. He told me there was nothing he could do about it, which I found unacceptable. I asked to speak to the manager, but Hugo informed me that the manager was not available. I was shocked by this response, as I have never been treated so poorly by hotel staff before. Despite having paid for an air-conditioned room, we were offered no solution or assistance. Additionally, the air conditioning vent was disgustingly dirty and covered with a moldy substance, which made me concerned about the air quality in the room. The room was unbearably hot, causing us to sweat profusely. This was particularly concerning as we needed a good night's rest before our long drive home to the Netherlands the next day. Frustrated and uncomfortable, we decided to leave immediately and booked into the Marriott Lyon instead, where we received excellent service and were treated like royalty. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, given the lack of basic amenities and the unprofessional attitude of the staff. Our experience was highly disappointing, and I urge others to consider alternative accommodations.

The city of Lyon has recently been experiencing a very hot period, with night-time temperatures reaching up to 27-28°C and daytime temperatures reaching 39-40°C. We had the air conditioning checked by our technical department the following morning, and it was working properly. However, during very hot spells like this one, the air conditioning system can reach its limits. At this late hour, the technical service and management are not on site. Fine for those on a budget. The room was comfortable enough - great night sleep both nights. Do ask for more towels though as they only provide the absolute minimum. Do be aware that the hotel is about a 40 minutes walk out of the centre of Lyon. We walked it both days as we like the exercise but there are trams and buses available. There isn’t much in the way of restaurants or shops nearby so pick anything you need up whilst you are in the city itself.

One towel is provided per person per room to avoid waste. If you require extra towels, please ask at reception. We understand that the distance of the hotel from the centre of Lyon may be a consideration for future guests. Regarding nearby restaurants and shops, we would indeed recommend a few independent restaurants close to the hotel or the confluence shopping centre located 2 tram stops or 15-20 minutes walk away. Definitely a 3* Ibis - located near the Confluence of the two Rivers which a bit out of the main centre of Lyon. However the tram stop was close by & easy to get into the city. General hotel facilities were ok and staff super helpful However the rooms are tired. We had a superior triple & it was very small & basic. Oldest hairdryer ever! No safe. Shame the pool area was closed for the season - especially as the RWC was on & it was 28 degrees! This area should have been open. Breakfast was ok but not amazing.

Ok hotel when passing through Lyon; pricing is attractive but the hotel however needs some renovation and cleaning can be done more thoroughly. USP 1: Swimming pool is shared with neighboring Novotel and there is a fine outside terrace next to it. USP 2: Good breakfast.

Comfortable and clean room, not large at all, but adequate fir one night. Shares a lot of amenities with the Mercure next door which is probably dearer! Underground parking was reasonable and relatively straightforward. There’s a garage up the road with snacks and drinks if you are looking to be very careful with finances. They were doing electrical work while we were there and at one point none of the sockets worked. Fortunately, this was sorted quite quickly. Bed was comfortable but some other noisy guests at 2am didn’t help our sleep!
