We were staying in Metz overnight on the way to Brugge. This hotel was well located near the old town and had parking for our car in a public car park underneath that was ok and had a connecting lift. I wouldn't say that there is anything particularly exciting about the hotel and think it is a good idea that they apparently have some planned upgrades. The room was reasonably basic but comfortable enough for overnight. Check in was pretty slow. All in all the price was ok and there were no surprises, so we were happy to stay a night in a good location.

5th Hotel on our journey of 7. First time in Metz

This was the 5th hotel of our European trip. Very nice somewhat quirky hotel the young blonde lady on reception was very pleasant. Pleased with our room upgrade plenty of room for all of our luggage. Plastic water bottles replaced with large glass bottle with water cooler in the corridor. Novotel have stopped supplying milk cartons due to waste but we had our own. On arrival the entrance to the underground car park was closed so we had to do a little detour down the little lane and parked in the underground public car park. There is a lift right into the hotel. Good selection at breakfast and pleasant room although part of it shut off so had to wait for a table. It was a beautiful day and we asked a different lady how to get into town and she just said go in the lift. Well we were looking around and headed for the river where they were many hundreds of people lining it and very shortly afterwards a dragon boat carnival began it was lovely. I have to say the I have never seen one with the Loch Ness monster on and someone playing the bagpipes in it defo a first and it ended with fireworks then back into town for a drink. Just as an aside I would have thought that the second receptionist might have mentioned it was on we could easily have missed it. Pleasant stay until we tried to leave. We had paid for our parking on arrival so asked the male receptionist for our ticket to get out. No instructions given. Well what a nonsense. Put the ticket in said invalid the man behind us tried and couldn't understand it 3 cars reversed so that we could reverse and park again to try and sort something out (they were very understanding). A local man came to our aid but again he didn't understand it either. So back to the hotel long queue as it was checking out time. When we queried why we could get out he then informed us that we had to use our entry ticket first and then the ticket he had given us! Why not say that when the ticket was given. So be very careful to keep your entrance ticket. A very frustrating end to what had been a pleasant trip

Booked a room via booking.com but didn't check what kind of parking they offered for my car. When I read disturbing reviews on Google maps about the public parking place nearby I asked for cancellation politely via the booking.com platform 3 days before we would stay in the hotel. I also called the hotel personally after the automation refused my request. This was also rejected. I simply don't understand why this would not be possible 3 days before a visit. It seems the commercial activity wins from politeness and friendlyness. Anyway I have escalated to booking.com a last time. For sure we won't be visiting independent of the final verdict. For others reading this review: if you want to take excellent care of your loved ones and possessions like your car. Find another place to sleep and park. Safe trip everyone.

My wife and I overnighted here on our way from Frankfurt to Reims and picked the hotel due to its central location to the old town. Location was good, but hotel was a real disappointment. As Accor members we like using their hotels but this has to be the worst Novotel we have stayed at. Very tired and needs a thorough renovation . 2 stars would be generous.
