Anniversary in paradise

I mean where do I begin?! This was an anniversary trip that my husband surprised me with and this he and this beautiful resort left me speechless! The staff of course were all extremely friendly and warmly welcomed us. The reef systems underneath the bungalows was absolutely breathtaking. I enjoyed spending my day snorkeling and marveling at this creation. The daily morning breakfast buffet was always delicious with fresh fruit. I would recommend taking the half day 4x4 tour of the island, the resort staff was able to set this up for us and the price was reasonable and comparable to others we checked. Overall, this was the most wondrous experience! I have no cons only pros!!

Beautiful honeymoon

Spent my honeymoon at the Sofitel. The hotel, food and staff are amazing! The rooms were clean and maintained twice a day. Definitely coming back! I recommend eating at the K restaurant. The food was a true experience! Breakfast was so good!

The staff were very professional and polite, but the property felt dated and unkempt. The check-in process was excessively long, taking 25 minutes from the time we were greeted at the counter. Dozens of wild roosters crowed incessantly throughout the property, making it impossible to have a peaceful and relaxing experience, let alone get a good night's sleep. There was only one restaurant on the property, and the food quality and presentation resembled that of a mall food court. There was no service on the beach or by the pool, so we had to get up for everything, including towels, drinks, food, and umbrellas. The pool lacked a hot tub, which seemed odd given the strong winds that can make the air feel quite chilly. The overall atmosphere was very dull and sleepy, with no music playing throughout the property to create a festive vibe or at least drown out the crowing roosters. The beach was not well-maintained, with jagged rocks, bleached coral, and other debris that made walking barefoot to the lagoon uncomfortable. The accommodations, property, and service did not meet today's standards of luxury. It seemed like they were relying solely on the scenic beauty of the clear turquoise water, neighboring island views, and a few dozen overwater bungalows. Beyond that, it often felt like you’re a prisoner in paradise, with the crappy food, and being confined to your quarters.

Difficult check in/ check out…understaffed. Beautiful and convenient to ferry. No need to FLY to Moorea!!!!!! FIRST TIMERS often make that mistake booked with travel agent! Otherwise, our 5th visit here…….restaurants just OK….no need for K restaurant. The BUNGALOWS are ALL authentic, SPACIOUS. Nice beach and water sports, but very windy during JULY.

Overall, the property has beautiful views and Moorea is amazing. However, for the price point, the hotel is lacking a lot of the basics for any high-end resort. The staff here is borderline rude. If you go into town or even on the tours, you will find everyone so much more welcoming. The only exception was the guy at breakfast making eggs - he was awesome. They have phones in the room but they are worthless because if you ever try to call housekeeping or the front desk, no one picks up. Drinks are $20+ but the pours are so small you have to get two drinks to equal one regular pour. The pool is small but beautiful but there is no one to man the pool so you have to go get your own drinks, put out your own towel, etc. Lastly, the food is mediocre. Our room included dinner and I got the seared tuna but it arrived fully cooked through. I would say try the Hilton but it’s the same owner as the Sofitel so I’m assuming they know they can charge these dates for mediocre service/food and get away with it.
