Reception and the bar look good and check-in was fast but all down hill after that. Our “Executive” room was tired, connecting door won’t close at all, aircon won’t work, very little soundproofing so we can hear every word of next doors phone conversation and footsteps from the room above and everyone walking down the corridor. Only two people working the bar and restaurant so after 20 minutes trying to get a drink we gave up and went out. On the plus side the bed was comfy If the manager reads this, resign you’re no good at your job.

We were worried about the stay due to some of the reviews, we stayed in August so it was busy but the staff were friendly and helpful, pool lovely little bonus for a dip especially with kids. Parts are tired like the stairs but it was clean, comfortable and convenient location. Products in the room, shower great and air con was really good! Bed really comfortable, good breakfast and pet friendly. We all slept well and feel refreshed for the further drive.

We stay here every year en route back to the UK from our holiday home in Provence so know this hotel well. It does the job in that it’s convenient, near a petrol station and large E Leclerc and I can probably do the journey with my eyes shut. However we have noticed over the years a gradual decline in what’s offered and little things that really need to be looked at. We’d booked a room with a double bed and the sofa beds made up as two beds but initially got given a room with them made as a double. We were then moved to a room at the far end of the hotel. One of the beds had broken wooden slats, the walls were painted a horrible brown colour as was the loo and there was no fridge which we’ve always had every time we’ve stayed previously. The water coming from the taps in the bathroom also had a slightly odd smell. It felt like we’d been given a room that was rarely used or used only if nothing else was available. On the plus side all the staff were very polite, if a little inexperienced , the food was fine and the pool looked OK although we didn’t use it this time round. It’s not a cheap stay though so I think there needs to be more attention to detail to get back on track.

Dreadful start to the holidays; truly horrid.

Truly horrid. We booked on the basis of having absolutely loved our stay in Novotel Annecy. Imagine our deception when we arrived to an old, dated building in what felt like an industrial estate. Granted, we should have taken more care with the exact location but this place felt more like a motel on the side of the motorway than a 4 star hotel. I was shocked to see a customer using the restaurant/bar in bare feet. The rooms are very dated and although the bathroom is clean (the hooks for the towels were loose), the decor needs a serious refresh and update. We thought breakfast was deplorable: terrible organisation, very poor and random choice, 19€ worth of food it is not. I was so disappointed. The staff at reception seemed very very young, and overall there was a lack of customer care and service. We didn’t feel welcome at all and I actually felt as if I was inconveniencing them by asking for a second key card. I will say that there was an older lady working the restaurant on our second day and she kindly helped us to heat our baby’s food and was generally very pleasant. There is a fitness room advertised… It is the size of a closet; two or three machines and no free weights. Disappointing. Shall we talk about the soundproofing? I was woken up at around midnight by the sound of our neighbours coming into their room. It was as if they’d entered our room it was so loud. Second night we had children running up and down and so pounding on the ceiling at 10pm. If we’d paid 100€ for the two nights we stayed (en route to Switzerland) or if it had been advertised as a 2 star hotel I wouldn’t be so angry and disappointed. I feel a fool and will be very hesitant to book any Novotel in the future

Phoned before booking to check you had accessible wetroom bathroom free and this was confirmed. Went ahead and booked on that basis. Reconfirmed same info on phone 1 week before arrival. Girl on reception didnt say anything and gave us a keycard. Rom was a. Small double, only just enough room for able bodied person to get into the toilet and close the door. No chance to get a wheelchair in. Shower room not a wetroom and my wife could not even get her wheelchair through the shower room door. Went to reception but staff too busy sorting families out with young children who were running all over the hotel unsupervised by their parents and this carried on until late, running up and down corridoors. Dinner was adequate, fries overcooked. My wifes penne with champignons didn’t have any champignons in it. At least half the staff looked as though they had only started an hour before as they were clueless when you asked them a question. Tried asking to see a manager next morning to discuss accessible room but no one even knew if they had them and there wasn’t a manager in the hotel. Compared to Novotel Chartres, where we have stayed before and where we stayed at the start of this holiday, this hotel in Dijon was so inferior that we would not even consider staying there again and would not give it 2 * This is one Hotel to miss.
