Unprofessional Staff at the restaurant Ruined My Evening

It’s the only Accor hotel above 4 stars in the area. The rooms are clean, the second floor was recently renovated, and the surroundings are beautiful. The reception staff — especially Jonathan — are welcoming, professional, and make you feel at ease. Unfortunately, tonight was very disappointing. After returning from dinner at the only restaurant nearby, I went to the lobby bar for a drink while waiting for the restaurant to open at 7 PM. I was among the first to arrive, but they initially refused to seat me because I didn’t have a reservation. I explained that I was staying at the hotel and had been waiting in the lobby — and that I couldn’t just go elsewhere since the hotel is in the middle of nature. They told me to wait until 7:45 PM. I asked why, since the restaurant was empty, and they said they were expecting a group. I replied that yes, they may be expecting a group — but I am just one person. How can you deny a single guest just because you expect a group later? Eventually, the manager allowed me to stay — but by then I already felt unwelcome and disappointed. Then things got worse. A staff member named Emma tried to seat me far from where I wanted to sit. When I asked for a table clearly meant for two, she insisted it was for the group and said in French: “On va pas faire tout un plat” — which is basically “Stop making a scene.” I was shocked. How can someone working in hospitality speak this way to a guest? I left and spoke with Jonathan at reception. He agreed this was unacceptable. The manager later changed his attitude, so I went back to the restaurant — but my evening was already ruined. I ate without appetite, genuinely worried that this same staff member might spit in my food. And the restaurant? It was never full — not when I arrived, not while I was eating, not even when I left. Please see photos attached. Yesterday, the bartender with the beard served me tea in a dirty teapot. Tonight, I was also given a dirty meat knife and had to ask for a clean one. For me, these two people (Emma and the bartender) seemed particularly unprofessional and unfriendly. The rest of the staff behaved well and were kind, which made this experience even more disappointing. This felt not just unprofessional but also like discrimination or close-mindedness. It completely ruined what should have been a relaxing evening. As a Platinum Accor member, just a few points away from Diamond, this experience was even more disheartening. I truly hope management takes this seriously and ensures proper training so that loyal guests like me feel valued and respected.

Stayed 5 nights at the Novatel hotel on a coach tour visiting attractions in the area our party had our own area for all our meals this was separate from the hotels main restaurant that would have given our tour operator a good deal helping keep the cost of the tour down. The rooms were comfortable and quiet complementary tea or coffee flat screen TV the staff were friendly and helpful the hotel provides all our needs outside area had a swimming pool Tennis courts a golf putting area in need of some TLC a selection of children's games in reception area and a pool table. We enjoyed our stay.

Very nice hotel clean and staff is very nice. Amazing veiw from the breakfast area. Request a room with a view on the chateau and city. Breakfast is good several options. 20 min walk to the center better have a car. Overall we ha d a good experience and. We would come back

Nice looking hotel but cheap. Staff even want 50 cents for an envelope

Hotel is out of town, up on a hill overlooking the town but you would need a car. Safe didn't work. Had to wait a long time for restaurant service and the meal was not the best. Breakfast served up rock hard potatoes left over from dinner and the rest was cold. Again service bad as was breakfast. Nice pool if you had time to use it.

Hotel was selected by Trafalgar as part of a northern France tour. Room satisfactory and was able to sleep well. There is not enough lifts so had to go down with stairs or wait a while but used lift to go up. Water is provided in the corridors where you can fill up your water bottle from the dispenser at the end of the corridor. Breakfast which is a buffet was satisfactory. Hotel is somewhat distant from the nearest convenience store or bar. There is a pool at the hotel which appeared popular given the warm days experienced. Staff were polite and courteous.
