spiaggia in infradito

Sunbathe at Flic-en-Flac beach

One of the more famous beaches on the island thanks to its postcard-like appearance, you’ll find translucent water and over 10 kilometres of fine sand as you explore this idyllic place. Remember to pack your snorkeling equipment; the incredible seabed is home to fish of a thousand and one colours. The more adventurous travellers can head to one of the dive centres for a one-day session with an instructor to really explore the seabed. And for the icing on the cake, you can take a boat trip around the lagoon, providing plenty of opportunity to contemplate the vast palette of sea blues from every angle.
Grande Rivière

Dive in the cascades of the Grande Rivière

Located near the lagoon of Belle-Mare, this paradise-like stretch of water is surrounded by a vast forest. Only reachable by boat, and therefore recommended to go with locals, it’s a little extra effort for a lot more reward. Stunning waterfalls provide an awe-inspiring backdrop for a swim you’ll not soon forget. And if you’re lucky, your swimming soundtrack will be provided by the colony of monkeys living nearby – nature at its finest!
Le Pouce

Climb Le Pouce mountain

Getting its name from its resemblance to an erect thumb (pouce = thumb in French), Le Pouce is famed for an exceptional panorama of Mauritius and views of the surrounding archipelagos. The climb is not considered difficult and there are several stunning viewpoints along the way to keep you motivated. You’ll first delve deeper into the unique atmosphere of the rainforest, before ascending to the summit. If you suffer from vertigo, attempting to reach the summit is not recommended as the drop is quite steep. But the breathtaking view is more than worth the effort for those who feel up to the climb, and will be one of the standout experiences of your holiday in Mauritius!
Grand Baie

Take a walk in Grand Baie

Grand Baie is one of the famous cities in the north-west of the island, easily accessible from the bus station in Port Louis. Although now converted into a seaside resort, the city has retained its modest fishing village appeal and charm. For a pleasant visit, we recommend setting off along the waterfront with a fresh coconut water in hand – the island nation’s signature drink. Then continue on to Sunset Boulevard for a shopping session, a street full of trendy shops hiding unique treasures. And if you feel like it, finish your day in one of the jewels of the Mauritian nightlife, such as the Banana Beach Club.
