Web accessibility
The international Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) defines Web accessibility as follows:
- Source: Introduction to Web accessibility"Web accessibility means that websites, tools, and technologies are designed and developed so that people with disabilities can use them. More specifically, people can: perceive, understand, navigate and interact with the Web, and contribute to the Web. Web accessibility also benefits people without disabilities, for example older people with changing abilities due to ageing.
Web accessibility encompasses all disabilities that affect access to the Web, including: visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive and neurological disabilities."
Accor: an inclusive environment
The Accor Group is particularly committed to ensuring that each and every person feels welcome in his hotels.
As part of our global inclusiveness strategy, we are in the process of improving the accessibility of our websites to provide an experience that is inclusive for all users. We believe that all users, regardless of their physical or mental ability, device or reason for using the Web, are entitled to benefit from the best service that we can offer them.
This strategy of making our websites accessible naturally mirrors the accessibility strategy in our hotels, particularly with our "Smart Room" concept.
Damien Perrot, Accor SVP Design Solutions"Through this concept, our aim is to inspire the hotel market by proposing a new approach to rooms for persons with reduced mobility (PRM), which are often uninviting, stigmatizing and left unoccupied.
We have designed a room for all, using design and creativity to integrate PRM standards and features and make them more intuitive - to the point that they become invisible and offer guests an improved emotional and sensory experience. Adaptable for all our brands in all sectors, this innovation reflects the Group’s desire to forge new paths toward positive hospitality and to answer the concerns of all our guests and meet their needs."
Our web commitment
To ensure sustainable accessibility on our websites, we have initiated a number of projects:
- A situational analysis of the website via a WCAG 2.1 - Level AA accessibility audit
- Increased awareness and improved expertise among our teams
- The implementation of specific accessibility tools and documentation
- The consideration of accessibility in our web projects from the start
- Support from accessibility experts
Our efforts to make our sites accessible will be focused on the hotel information and reservations department areas, which will be displayed on the following pages:
- The homepage
- The booking engine
- The hotel searches results
- The information sheets about our hotels
- The booking path
