This place has a friendly staff, but the good ends there. The hallways look institutional, the rooms are not clean feeling or looking. Perhaps this is a transitional stage but they have to hurry up with the updates. MARRIOT is across the street.

Perfect Wedding Weekend Hotel and Venue

My now wife and I have been working with the 21c staff for over a year to plan our wedding weekend. We chose to have 21c be our primary hotel for guests, as well as utilize the Main Gallery for our Rehearsal Dinner. Michael and his staff went above and beyond for us during our wedding weekend making it a perfect wedding weekend hotel and venue for us and our guests. Michael made it a priority to check in with us every day, and his staff even went so far as to have custom robes with our names on them made for us which we arrived back to on our wedding night. After having done a ton of research, 21c is definitely the best venue in downtown Durham to host a wedding!

Dirty, run down, with no hot water

I've never seen a 21c this sub par. It's more Holiday inn than a 4 star hotel. The place was dirty, no one vacuumed or wiped down surfaces. The walls are all scratched up and scuff marked. Every linen and towel I unfolded had some sort of schmutz on it -- hair, lint, whatever else I don't want to know. Hair all over the bathroom, on the bed, in the tub. Then they didn't have hot water for 24 hours. Would never stay here ever again.

Well located, but the room felt stale

Conveniently located and a quick walk away from anything we needed to do. The room, however, was not what it should’ve been. The sink didn’t drain, bedside lamp didn’t work and the room overall felt old and a bit stale.

For a Boutique hotel I was not impressed. Hotel was very dark in all the rooms. Better lighting would be welcomed. Our Air conditioning did not work, the sink was clogged and the Safe was broken, the 1 service guy for the entire hotel couldn’t repair the issue so they moved us to a suite that was right next to the elevator shaft and all you heard was the elevators going up and down. The coffee was never replaced and after a late night wedding that was what we were looking forward to. The hotel Msnager offered a discounted rate when we return. However this is not a destination that I will come back to. Only went for a family members wedding.
