Stayed at Sofitel Fiji for 4 days whilst my husband attended a conference at that same venue. There are some stars that stand out such as Mary at the gym who gave great yoga, Pilates classes. I attended her classes and she gave such good instruction at a pace that everyone could follow. Met friendly Annie at the gym who popped up helping out at different parts in the resort always with a friendly greeting and remembering my name. Loved the aqua aerobics at 11.00am in the pool and the entertaining instructors who were good at involving everyone in the activity and lots of laughter. There are the hidden stars who service the rooms and turn down the beds leaving chocolates on our pillows. Never met them but appreciated their service. Lots happening and something to do for everyone and noted the good safe services for caring of children. Sofitel is a resort geared towards its facilities which are great but it can only be as good as the staff servicing it. It was disappointing that when my husband was attending the conference I could not get staff to come or take an order for food or drinks at the poolside. When I managed to get someone's attention they said they would come back and this never happened. I learnt to take water down to the poolside from the bedroom and keep fruit from breakfast. It was interesting to note that when my husband joined me at the end of day after a conference session he had no difficulty in getting service at the poolside to place orders for food and drinks. Saw very little of the wonderful Fijian culture at Sofitel and it would have been great to have seen more of it.

If you are a Accor member be careful as you no longer get 50% off your meal as a couple in Sofitel in Fiji or some other Accor properties. We went to have a birthday meal with another couple (two of us had an Accor membership), however we were told that to receive the discount we would have to sit at 2 different tables as they only offer 25% off per table. Strange thing is that if we had 40 people dining the contact center informed us that we would get 25% of the whole table in this situation - surely that would cost the hotel more?? Having been a loyal member for so many years and being told at the restaurant that due to increased costs they are no longer offering the 50% discount was disappointing given they sell the program for up to 50% off and now every hotel has its own policy so you have to look up each time you want to dine. Funny thing is no other Hotel has changed their loyalty program half way through a membership year. Accor will tell you it is noted in the terms and conditions. For me, it shows that loyalty means nothing and it just makes us shop around for a better deal. Bad form Accor!

Even the laundry was great.

Apart from the very friendly staff every requirement was met promptly with a smile. Even down to the laundry... Lodging your laundry bag first thing in the morning with Galo was ready and returned to our room at lunch time nicely folded and pressed.

Wonderful resort made even more special by the excellent staff.

The resort is absolutely beautiful but it is the staff that make it an extra special experience! They are so smiley and helpful and always looking to make your day even better. A huge thank you to Venaisi who made sure we had everything we needed at breakfast and would then greet us again for lunch or poolside with the same energy. Truly amazing service and we’re very grateful to be treated so well.

Stayed here from 23/4/24 to 2/5/24, for holiday and the ACP2024 conference. I waited over an hour at check-in (no other guests waiting) as they couldn’t find the Luxury Escapes booking reference despite me forwarding the email from Luxury Escapes directly to their front desk. They refused to acknowledge the booking. I had to contact emergency assistance at Luxury Escapes and they finally found the booking. Totally unacceptable after travelling over 30 hours from Paris. The staff made a kind gesture delivering us miniature bottles of soap and some fruit (neither of which we actually needed). The air-conditioning in the room we stayed for our first night was horrible and stink of mildew/mould. We got food poisoning last night of our extended stay. My wife and I ate all meals in the restaurants and on the last night we went to the “Sofitel adults only Waitui Beach club”. My wife and I were both vomiting profusely a few hours after the meal. Our two kids who ate every meal with us except for that meal were completely fine. We explained everything to the general manager, but they refused to acknowledge that it was due to their food and canapés served at the adults only Waitui beach club. I am a medical doctor and I know we got sick from that food. They however conducted their own “investigation” and concluded it was not their fault. Whilst all the staff are very lovely, I doubt I will stay at Sofitel again after this experience. Given bungled check in, the risk of food poisoning and also the way that the management handled our complaints, I cannot recommend this hotel. Such as shame :(
