The recent dumping of snow turned the Fable into a winter wonderland! The resort is set in the most stunning location, only an hour from Christchurch but a world away. Our Villa was toasty warm and comfortable, the setting and views are out of this world, the meals in the restaurant and cafe were delicious, we especially enjoyed the Chocolate Fondant, Pear and rhubarb crumble, venison and the full breakfast. A great selection of activities are on offer for those like us who don’t play golf nor ski. The standouts were, Target shooting with Neil with his personal one on one coaching, the Rakaia Gorge walk, we only walked 40 mins each way and saw some stunning views that looked like a painting and Lake Coleridge which is so quiet and serene that time just stops. Thank you to all the amazing staff, your friendly personal service really made our long weekend especially Joanna in the Cafe, Lady in the restaurant and the lovely ladies at reception who welcomed and farewelled us.

Terrible hotel! Untrained staff. Customer will have to suffer because of untrained staff. Staff has no idea of Accor privileges. Housekeeping is not doing the job. A simple chewing gum from the shower could not be removed from multiple days.. amenities missing. Almost never kept. Lena, the front desk manager, does not understand customers and is terrible at customer service. She has forced me to give this review.

Terrace Downs Resort

We lunched in the restaurant at Fable Terrace Downs. The view over the golf course was quite beautiful. The lunch was great and the staff friendly and considerate. I would highly recommend the venue to anyone thinking of a staff conference or like.

From arrival to departure we were very impressed by this resort which is situated in the most magnificent surroundings. The staff were welcoming and professional. The Villa was perfect, easy to access with a covered bay for our car. The restaurant staff, again were welcoming, attentive and clearly making an effort to engage with us. The golf course is well kept and challenging. I did comment on the poor state of hire clubs and was assured that new ones were on order and there would be no charge for the existing ones. All in all a most pleasant short stay. We would certainly return.

Spacious rooms and a beautiful property define Fable Terrace Downs Resort, yet limited services raised questions about the 'resort' label. Despite a prompt response to an incident in our room, it highlighted its limitations: nonexistent internet (we couldn't even assess speed as it never worked), a nonfunctional intercom, necessitating a direct call from my smartphone to report the incident to the reception, room cleanliness, limited service in the restaurant and bar, and a very basic breakfast. Overall, it was an experience that fell short of resort expectations.
