Such an awesome experience. The staff, the service, and the overall atmosphere created a perfect environment. I would highly recommend staying here. The access to the old city was just footsteps away. The Hotel is a landmark that is absolutely stunning at night when it is lit up. I will be returning there in the future.

Let me preface by saying that we were not guests here - we were just touring the hotel. Indeed, the hotel looks impressive from afar; however, up close, it was hardly awe-inspiring. The inside seemed very tame regarding the decor. We were hoping for something with a little more character. There were tour groups crowding in the lobby, which sullied the experience.

Not Up To Fairmont Standards

The Château Frontenac is not up to Fairmont standards, not even close. There are far too many problems with the infrastructure and service for this not to be strong indication management is not doing their job. A few issues: 1) Upon arrival, it was immediately apparent the hotel has too few elevators to handle all their rooms. We waited 35 minutes in a line for an elevator. I gave up and walked up 10 flights of stairs with some of our luggage. I discovered later one of the 3 main lobby elevators was not working - for the entire 3 days we were there. No signage informing of such. No posted apology for long waits. Just a broken elevator. 2) Our room was filthy. The bed had been made. There were fresh bath towels, but on the whole, the room was filthy. There was weeks worth of dust on the lower shelf of the bedside table (see photo). When I placed folded clothes on the shelf in the closet, a cloud of dust blew out. I spent 10 minutes or so cleaning my clothes with a wet washcloth. 3) The men’s public restroom on the lobby floor had a broken toilet paper dispenser. 4) There was coffee available outside the front door of the restaurant the first morning. The second morning there was no coffee. When I asked about the coffee, the hostess said “Starbucks was closed yesterday, so no coffee today.” What? First, Starbucks was not closed the day before. Second, what the heck does that have to do with providing coffee for your guests? A huge hotel is incapable of providing a cup of coffee?

In Montreal and Quebec City for our honeymoon. Disappointed that it wasn’t acknowledged like it was by our hotel in Montreal. When we checked in, there was no mention of our honeymoon. No congratulations, no special welcome, nothing to make the moment feel unique or celebrated. Here, we received no such consideration, making our arrival feel no different from any standard check-in.

Hotel is well located and room was very comfortable. The concierge service was excellent but the overall cost of the stay was too high given the level of service and having to share the grounds with many cruise ship tourists. We had difficulty getting into the hotel bar due to crowding. Overall good experience but not good value for the money.
