A Wonderful Stay in Maldives

We stayed at Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort for 5 nights in a sunset overwater bungalow with a private pool. The room is spacious, modern, and just fabulous!! It's as beautiful as the pictures on their website. The infinity pool in the common area is nice and big. The hotel ground and common areas are well kept and clean. It was a well organized process in getting us from Male airport to the resort. We arrived to Male the night before as a buffer in case of any delays. We were given the flight time from Male to Kooddoo only one day in advance. I would have liked to know about my flight time further in advance for planning purposes. Once we arrived in Kooddoo, the staff was ready to welcome us and bring us to the resort which is only about 3-5 minutes ride from the airport. The check-in process was a breeze. We had an all inclusive package and enjoyed dining in their restaurants with delicious food. The staff was nice, polite, and attentive to our needs. Communication before our arrival was very helpful. It’s the little things that made all the difference

We stayed for 5 nights in an over water villa in August, their rainy season. The room was very comfortable with a modern bathroom and an outdoor shower and a deck overlooking the bay. Wifi throughout the resort was excellent. We arrived on a rainy day so not the best way to see the resort. It was an hour flight from Male. The resort was only a 2 minute golf cart ride from the airport which was actually great because the staff took care of our check in and we could stay longer at the resort before departing. What made our stay so memorable were the staff from Nazeer at the welcome to Nazeer seeing us off. EVERY member of the staff at the resort during our stay were friendly, helpful and had a great attitude. In terms of the people, it was easily the best resort we have stayed at. The staff at the airport were great, helping us navigate the mayhem both on arrival and departing. The resort is small and more quiet compared to Caribbean standards and is 4 star. In terms of service it felt 5 star. The infinity pool was very large and the gym was small but functional. It may not offer as many activity options but between snorkelling from our dock to the pool and gym, we had plenty to do. The food was excellent with plenty of variety. When you wanted something they always seemed to be able to provide it. Breakfast perhaps changed the least from day to day. The activités were clearly laid out on their app. Unfortunately, the day we wanted to go on the snorkelling excursion, it was cancelled because of the weather. We also liked that it is adults only. The only knock would be that any extras that were not part of the AI package were expensive. We chose not to do any. Also flies were a nuisance anytime you chose to eat outdoors, even on our deck they managed to find us. We would definitely recommend to a couple.

Mercure Maldives kooddoo has been amazing to stay. Lots of activities to do, the food is great and the staff is top notch. Kasun, pubudu, Kunal, Yunktho and Preudeup, the bar staff has been more than amazing. It has been a pleasure to spend time with them.

Paradise does exist!

It took some confidence to book a solo trip to a honeymoon destination like the Maldives. But I’m glad I did it. And I’m even more glad I stayed at Mercure Kooddoo resort for my five night adventure. From the moment I landed in Male, I was made to feel like family, from the kind staff who escorted me to the domestic terminal. I got to wait in the lounge and then enjoyed a scenic one hour flight on the fantastic Maldivian Airlines down to Kooddoo. Upon arrival, i was brought to the resort via golf cart, given a brief tour, and then was dropped off at my room. I had an overwater sunset pool villa. It was simply perfect in every way. The a/c worked well, the bed was comfortable, the shower was amazing, the glass floor was just fun, and the mini bar (which was restocked daily) had a great assortment of beverages. There were also snacks, beer and liquor available, all inclusive. The pool was a perfect size, and the access to the crystal clear lagoon was easy. I snorkeled on 3 out of the 5 days (seas a bit too tough on the last 2 days) and saw an amazing array of sea life. The outdoor shower was also a nice bonus. The food was very good, at both the main Alita restaurant and the overwater restaurant named Vista. There was just a huge variety, and you could go every day without eating the same thing. The drinks at the Pool Bar were free flowing, which a huge variety of all inclusive beverages. I took a 90min dolphin cruise and we found a pod of dolphins which we followed for some time. It was just a great experience, with the friendly and knowledgeable crew there to answer any and all questions about these amazing animals. I also got a massage for the first time in my life at the beautiful spa, and what an experience it was. Just trust me, get the “Tranquility Massage”. You’ll leave a changed person. I’d go back just to have that experience again. The staff here was so incredible, I cannot put it into words properly. They treat you like family. It’s the type of genuine, sincere service that’s hard to find nowadays. I met new friends and left with a sincere admiration for the entire team at the resort. Just outstanding, in every way. They all go above and beyond. Please show them gratitude. Departure from the resort was also seamless, though it was tough to leave paradise, to put it mildly. I was a bit nervous going in - just a single guy going on a trip to the honeymoon paradise of the world - but everyone made me feel right at home and welcomed. It was the most memorable trip of my life, and I will be back. Thank you all very much.
