The location was perfect, just a short walk from the train station. Was really convenient even though I had to walk in the snow. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The service was impeccable. Highly recommend and would stay here again for sure.

Truly enjoyed our stay in the Mercure Hida Takayama. Very conveniently located near the takayama bus and train stations. We loved the peacefulness in the old town. You can easily walk to nearby spots like the morning market, old town and others. The room was cozy and warm and the breakfast was great! We will definitely come back.

Stayed 9 nights during winter and it's excellent! Seamless check in, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room is decent size and very clean. I love that they are providing pajama set, this is brilliant! Onsen is wonderful, very well maintained and always clean. Location is excellent, around 5 mins walk to the train and bus station. This hotel is highly recommended!

We have wonderful 2 nights stay in Mercur Takayama. Easy to access just a walk from station. The overall room ambience is warm and welcoming. Good public onsen eventhough we didn't try the private onsen. Very helpfull staff. Overall, we would like to visit Mercure Takayama again in the near future

I could not be happier with my stay at Mercure Takayama. The service from the staff was honestly 10/10, and I’m forever grateful for the care they showed us. My partner suddenly fell ill and needed a hospital visit in the middle of the night. I asked the night staff if it was possible to extend our room and check out at 1pm instead, as we needed to go to the hospital first thing in the morning. She helped arrange the extension immediately, which gave us the breathing room we desperately needed. The next day was complete chaos — I was juggling my partner’s hospital visit, a snowstorm, issues with another hotel in Shirakawa-go, and coordinating everything on very little sleep. We eventually decided to stay at Mercure, as there would be no medical services in Shirakawa-go at night. When I arrived around 1pm, I asked the receptionist, BaoKang, if it was possible to extend our stay for another night at the very last minute. He went above and beyond and made the process incredibly easy — no hassle, no back and forth, just a simple extension and payment. That ease of service genuinely saved me from a lot of stress during a very difficult moment. I was having a hard time dealing with the other hotel, and I couldn’t be more grateful for how supportive and seamless Mercure made everything. Thank you again to BaoKang, the midnight staff on the 22nd of January (a Japanese lady — I’m sorry I didn’t get your name), and also the manager, Lin, for greeting us. I truly hope BaoKang and the midnight staff receive recognition for the assistance they offered us. We were seriously in a pickle, and their help was a huge relief when I needed it most. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
