Shocking communication

Absolutely shocking communication. I’ve booked to come here with my family during February half term and booked the zoo offer which is advertised as ‘including breakfast and 1 day entry into Paignton zoo’ .. I booked 2 adults and 2 children. Upon reviewing the booking confirmation it states that only 2 adults get into the zoo. This isn’t listed anywhere at all on their website that children included in the booking need to pay extra. I’ve emailed for clarification - twice - and used the online contact form but have continued to be ignored. It would be cheaper for me to book a different hotel and pay entry into the zoo additionally however the booking is non refundable. Trying to contact someone is impossible and when I ring them I’m just left on hold.

New mecure but missed a few touches

Very new mecure overlooking paignton pier. On site car park for guests only. Tight spaces but very glad. It was stormy while we visited but hotel kept the sound and weather out. Well located for town centre. Room was well equipped, we had one overlooking the pier inc an espresso machine and wet room although as the glass doesnt go to the floor which meant it could flood. However lacked a sofa and instead had 2 comfy chairs. Big shame is lack of storage space. 3 hangers and tiny bed side drawers and a wardrobe without any shelves. Plenty of sockets. Breakfast was plentiful, just missing tomatoes for me.

Great hotel with great staff

Stayed here for a couple nights for my birthday. I had initially booked to stay at the Ibis Styles but was emailed to say that I had been moved to the Mercure. I had a room overlooking the seafront albeit I would have preferred a high floor but it was still a decent view of the seafront. The privilege rooms are quite large and spacious and a king size bed which had so much room. There is space to work but I deliberately left the laptop at home as not to have to think about work. The bathroom was clean and the rain shower was something else. I didn’t want to get out the shower after I got in. The hotel has a restaurant and bar. I only used the bar to have a cuppa with my friend for a catch up but the staff were attentive and friendly. Overall the stay was comfortable and relaxed and I really enjoyed this hotel. One thing that did catch my attention when I was checking out was an older gentleman sat in the lobby having a hot drink reading a newspaper, he came across quite lonely. As I was leaving I noticed a young female member of staff, I believe maybe from the bar go over and sit with him and have a chat with him. This level of kindness spoke volumes and was really lovely to see. On my next trip to Paignton, this hotel will definitely be top of my choices of places to stay.

Had a great stay in November with my friends, as was visiting my cousin. Great bedroom, very comfortable with lovely staff ! Would recommend to anyone trying to find a hotel in this area. It was clean, there was no noise and the value for money was perfect, always with a Mercure hotel !
