Stayed for one night, lovely new hotel - beautifully decorated for Christmas. Staff extremely friendly and helpful - we were checked in at reception and were given a gorgeous room overlooking the bay. Spotlessly clean with large very comfy bed. Our evening meal was outstanding- couldn’t fault a thing!!! The chef and his team are excellent. The chef even came out and mingled with the guests. Couldn’t fault the Mercure at all.

I stayed here for two nights and had such a lovely experience. The hotel looked so festive, with beautiful decorations that really made it feel warm and welcoming. The continental breakfast was spot on – plenty of choice and everything was fresh and tasty. What really stood out was the service. Every member of staff was so friendly and attentive, always happy to help and making sure everything was just right. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests. I’d definitely stay again – highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay, this very new hotel is beautiful, with comfortable rooms and excellent service. The food at the on-site restaurant was a highlight—delicious, varied, and expertly prepared. A special touch was when the chef personally came out to speak with guests, adding a warm and personal feel to the experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking to relax and enjoy great dining in Paignton.

Disastrous Christmas meal for a group of ladies....never again

We arrived to a very attractive, seasonally decorated bar/Restaurant, and were looking forward to our annual get-together. All the meals had been pre-ordered. We had a very willing, but poorly trained young man looking after us, and we had to request sauces, and bread rolls which arrived after the starters were finished. The main course was turkey with 'all the trimmings' - it was actually quite dreadful, and appeared to have been heated under a grill - the potatoes were singed, the sprouts were black and slimey, the pig in blanket was black and the slice of turkey could have been anything, the stuffing was dry and burnt and the gravy was too salty. There were other disasters, but we chose not to complain at the time as the organiser had gone to a lot of trouble to plan the evening. Do not go there for food it was quite quite dreadful.

Went over for the Christmas market where my son was singing with school and we were really impressed. Friendly welcome and a nice choice of drinks. Decided to treat ourselves to dessert and chose a lemon posset brought to us in person by friendly chef Shannon who explained how it was made. Absolutely delicious and it was lovely to get the personal touch from the chef. We’ll be back for a full meal very soon, thank you all for such a great welcome!
