Beautiful resort but guest experience manager and service levels were atrocious

I really enjoyed the scenery during my stay at SO/ Maldives. The accommodation was an overwater villa for this trip with uninterrupted picturesque sea views every morning. After getting off at the airport, you'll get ushered to the ferry terminal to wait for the speedboat to the resort which takes about 15mins to get to (it took about twice the time on the day I arrived due to rainy weather and choppy waters). Once there, check in will be done at the arrival lounge before before you get taken to your accommodation. The rooms were spacious and beautiful. They come equipped with all the necessary amenities and wi-fi speeds were also fast enough for watching videos on YouTube and streaming music. If you stay in the overwater villa, there'll be wooden steps that allow you direct access to shallow waters right in front of the outdoor balcony. The last few steps leading into the water tend to be very slippery due to algae so I would advise all to be cautious when climbing down. Bed and pillows were comfy, they also provide umbrellas and beach bags for carrying things around the resort. All guests will have a 'guest service manager (GSM)' assigned to them for their whole stay. The GSM that was assigned to me for this trip was Rajeeu. Communication will be mainly through WhatsApp, and they'll send all the hotel's information through it after the check in. This is where things went straight downhill for me. Every time when I requested for a water refill (which was about 1 - 2 times a day), it always took AT LEAST 1.5hrs before they get delivered. On the first day when I checked in, I had to wait a full 2 hours just for my water and towels to get delivered to the room. I texted the request at 4.07pm and it was acknowledged. I waited until 5.35pm before texting again as nothing arrived. The water and towers were only finally delivered at 6.07pm! In addition, I also ordered in-room dining at 6pm, specifically requesting for 1 pizza and 1 dessert to get delivered to my room at 6.30pm for dinner, which was also acknowledged by my GSM. I waited till 10pm with no news, and when I texted to ask when would the pizza be coming, unbelievably, the reply came back stating that when there was a misunderstanding when my GSM placed the order for 6.30pm, they mistook the order to only start cooking at 6.30pm instead of having it delivered to me at that time. But note that this was already 10pm, a full 3.5hrs AFTER my requested delivery time. My food only arrived at 10.30pm in the night. On the second day, I requested for an iron at 7.38pm as I needed to use it to prepare for dinner at one of the restaurants. It was acknowledged, but nothing came for an hour. I texted my GSM again at 8.44pm asking if the iron is coming, and the reply came at 8.54pm saying that it should be there in a few seconds. It only arrived at around 9pm. On the last day, after settling the bill at the arrival lounge, I was seated at the lounge area to wait for the speedboat to arrive to take us back to Male airport. My GSM was missing and I was left alone at the lobby lounge after paying for my checkout, with no one to inform me or guide me to the speed boat when it has arrived. The situation was chaotic at best. Other guests also seemed equally lost but thankfully at the very last minute, I believe it was their GSMs that came out to usher them to the speedboat, informing that it would take them back to the airport terminal. I also vividly recall approaching a Caucasian staff, who was just earlier furiously apologizing to another Indian family for an awful experience, asking if this was the speedboat to the airport. He didn't even bother to respond to my question clearly, just shrugged me away, and just walked away. The attitude of the Caucasian staff was condescending and rude at best. I'm giving 2 stars for the overall experience due to the atrocious service level of the GSM assigned to me, the rude attitude of the Caucasian staff, the incredulous waiting times for simple water and towels refills, and the awful mix up and miscommunication between the GSM and the restaurant for my in-room dining. The whole stay was only saved by the beautiful villa, the picturesque scenery, the delicious breakfasts as well as their in-room dining (the pizza was, thankfully, really well done). But the overall service team really needs to buck up, especially if the resort is branding themselves as a 5-star luxury getaway. It's a very very far cry from living up to the standards of such a branding and it's only compromising people's holiday experience in an awful way.

Exceptional service from the moment we landed in the Maldives to the moment we got to TSA when leaving! Truly one of the best experience you can ever get in the Maldives!! This is my first time going to Maldives and I went there to propose to my girlfriend. I was so worried since I didn't know anything or anyone there but I have to say I was astonished by the help I received. Not only was the room and the view breathtaking but the people there especially our advisor Maria and photographer Muba really melted my worries away. They were able to ease my mind with the preparation. Whenever I needed help Maria would help with everything she could and replied to my messages in an instant. Muba also captured the memory with beautiful pictures, I really couldn't ask for more. I had the best experience with the best hotel room, best view of clear waters and sea animals, and best people who helped me through this journey. Beautiful part of the world 🌎 best place to fully relax. The staff were amazing 🤩, food fantastic especially at the Habada restaurant!! Many options to chill or to do snorkeling, water sports or just chill in your personal pool or at the beach club. You can bicycle ride from villa to restaurants and club or spa or you can catch a buggy.
