Amazing hotel, indoor pool beach and amenities!

This hotel is everything you need near the beach! It has a very nice bar, restaurant, buffet breakfast, full on spa and parking! The staff are very kind especially Fiona she is amazing at customer service! Sometimes we get upset as they are almost all summer months sold out but once we get a room it’s nothing short of amazing. The rooms on first floor have huge balconies and amazing views!

My wife and I booked to go to The Mövenpick based on excellent previous experience at Mövenpick hotels. This iteration really lets down the brand. Where is the quality control? The staff are rude, the meals are not what one would expect in a 5* establishment. We went in October and on booking.com it said that they had an outdoor pool and bar. These were both shut when we arrived meaning we had nothing to do but be waited on disinterested and rude staff who evidently wanted to be there less than us by the end.

In no way this hotel can be considered to be 5 stars. The hotel itself is quite good, rooms are nice, but service is disastrous and guest satisfaction is something that employees have never heard of. You can see waiters happily chatting to one another during dinner ignoring newly sat guests or English-speakers who need something else for their table. Restaurant bills cannot be charged to room and you will hear lengthy explanations about their past guests making problems with bills that were posted to the rooms as if it is my problem as a current guest that they failed to resolve such issues in the past. Management in the hotel is non-existent as well, if you have any issues - good luck finding someone in charge, as there is no duty manager, front office or operations manager. No one will even say sorry for causing you so much inconvenience, they don’t care. You may spot housekeeping manager at the reception desk though doing receptionist job, crazy! Taxi is a gamble, you may be lucky and reception will arrange a normal taxi for you, but they may as well simply forget about it and instead will call some random local guy with a very old vehicle who speaks zero English to drive you to your destination in a smelly hot car. Beach is dirty and mainly occupied by locals, front row sunbeds are “reserved” with towels for the entire day and no one shows up. Owners of the jetski that can be rented at the beach are also always occupying the front row with their friends and family, hotel guests are definitely not the priority. You have to collect beach towels from the hotel reception and bring them all the way back to the hotel! No towels are available by the pool or at the beach, and no place to drop them off either, enjoy 10 minute walk back to the hotel with the wet towel in your hands. Breakfast is suitable for a 3-star hotel, but not for a 5-star. No live station, cooked eggs look unappetizing and variety is very poor. Service during breakfast is also slow, plates are not collected timely and waiters only interact with those who speak their language. Spa is disgusting, everything is covered in black mold 🤢 I am very surprised that Movenpick brand allows this hotel to operate under their name.

Stayed in October and the pool was closed for the season and also the beach area i.e. no parasols or loungers. Fair enough but it should be made clear on booking. Room was good also the grounds, and the staff helpful when prompted. However breakfast was not up to Movenpick standards. and the management needs to sort it out. There was no muesli, just 3 flavours of cornflakes and for a 5* hotel the hot options were unacceptably lacking. I would have expected a choice of freshly made omelettes or fried eggs but only scrambled or hard boiled with a hot dog type sausage were available. There was an 8 slice toast machine that was overseen by an attendant that took forever to toast a slice which really needs sorting out and the queues for the 2 coffee machines were too long although the coffee was decent. The tables were not properly set for new arrivals and supervision seemed lacking. Staff training seems inadequate and I wouldn't stay here again. There are better hotels in Durres.

Certainly not worth the 5 stars. The rooms are clean and nice, but huge improvement needed on service level. Food is more like 3,5 stars and service 3 stars level. Unorganized and not coordinated enough. A lot off mistakes with organization of everything.
