Fantastic stay at Mercure Chur City West. The staff were genuinely lovely, the room spotless, and the mountain views… absolutely breathtaking. It’s about a 25-minute stroll to the old town, but only 2 minutes to the famous Alien Bar, based on the film — worth a peek. The hotel felt like the perfect mix of comfort and convenience, and Chur itself was a brilliant surprise. Would happily come back.

We stayed for 2 nights towards end of June. It is a modern hotel with rather small so called comfort rooms. We therefore, requested for an upgrade on payment. Irina the manager kindly came with us & showed us the larger spacious room on the top floor which was lovely with good views. The room even had a sauna. The hotel is situated in the Buisness district & bus stop is nearby. Breakfast is satisfactory. There is a restaurant in the same building called City West, which served us a delicious evening meal. Reception staff in the hotel are all polite, friendly & helpful. We would like to thank Irina the manager & Sarah, Saskia & Marina for our pleasant stay.

Worth It for the View, But We Wouldn’t Return

We stayed for 1 night at Mercure Chur City West on our road trip through Switzerland to Italy. We are a Danish family who enjoys a bit of luxury, good food, and peaceful atmospheres – and this hotel delivered a solid experience overall. Pros: • Located at the foot of the Alps with a stunning view from the room. • Beautiful, modern room – stylish and well maintained. • Easy parking and convenient location for a stopover. Cons: • Breakfast was just okay – and unfortunately quite expensive for what was offered. • Food overall didn’t meet our expectations. We give it 4 stars – mainly for the great room and fantastic view. However, we wouldn’t return, as the food experience simply wasn’t good enough for us.

Part of a secret escapes deal so we didn’t choose the hotel. We had a corner room with fantastic views of the mountains. From the train station we got a taxi for 17Ch but then used the local bus number 6 which stops outside the hotel. The hotel can print a card to be used for free local travel and some discounts ( it wasn’t clear what on ) within Chur. Bed was large and comfortable. Room was spacious and warm . Fridge had some free water. Coffee pod machine. Downsides were the solitary hanger in the wardrobe ( I am sure they would have found more if needed) and the shower control was difficult to use to get the right temperature and no kettle. We ate breakfast in the Co op restaurant ( the mall is almost under the hotel) which opens at 9 am and has many choices and breakfast croissant/ drink deals for CH6.95. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

We booked a corner room which had a superb view across the city and of the surrounding mountains. The room was very spacious. The bathroom had a large shower and a good supply of towels and toiletries. Everything was very clean. After staying in budget hotels it was good to have a proper wardrobe. Also a fridge. Not a big fan of coffee pod machines, but we did manage to boil water using it. If you are a tea drinker bring your own teabags. Proper cups and two sizes of glasses are provided; free bottles of water in the fridge. The hotel is served by the no 6 bus which runs between the rail station and City West on weekdays. We found it to be frequent and the journey is short. Bus services are on Google maps. The shopping centre has a huge Coop if you want to buy milk or anything else. We ate in Chur - lots of options. The old town is worth a wander. Our cultural highlight was the art museum.
