Very good budget hotel in quiet local area. Good bus service to Kallang MRT on bus 21 or 26 as advised by an excellent staff member, Benjamin. He was first rate and most helpful to me. Turn left out of hotel, walk 100m to main road. Excellent food on right corner. Bus to Kallang MRT on right. Three stops. Recommended Mountbatten MRT was poor advice. Too far to walk at night due to poor lighting. No taxis or buses at Mountbatten MRT. Grab cost $S11.00 to travel 1.5 km. Rooms at Ibis were very comfy. Beds good and bathroom modern and well drained. Overall, for under $S100 the Ibis offered good value for very expensive Singapore.

I would give this place 3.5 not a bad place at all honestly I would go again but Very nice rooms and great staff , quite spacious. But I found a roach and that was quite unpleasant and also the location is in a red light districting area at night but you can also find great Singapore street food at a affordable price. Honestly book this place if u don’t mind roaches because I only saw you and just take taxis and it will be a great experience

POSITIVES: The Ibis Budget Crystal is a pleasant hotel with small, yet comfortable rooms. Don't let the fact that it's located in the "Red Light" district of Geylang put you off, as you barely notice this. Yes, there are brothels, but these places are clean & unassuming as in Singapore it is not allowed to solicit your patronage. Rest assured: the area is safe, with modern well-lighted streets. The hotel is easily accessed by both local buses as well as the MRT. We took a couple of buses from Changi airport and had no issue at all paying with our credit cards (don't forget to tap ON & then tap OFF). Just keep in mind that one individual credit card is needed for EACH passenger (NB: you cannot pay for more than 1 person with the same card). It's very simple to use the local buses to travel around Singapore using Google Maps: you get clear directions of what buses to take and where to get off. You'll just need to search Google Maps while you're connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot before you get on the buses, as there's no free WiFi on them. We had no issues at all. The hotel is within walking distance to many vibrant eateries and shops. The staff at the reception were super nice and helpful. There was a strong smell of smoke in our non-smoking room, and they quickly organized an ionizer to purify the air. This worked! (Though don't leave the ionizer running all night as the dryer air will end up making your throat feel "scratchy" - especially if you have asthma like my husband!) We liked that the hotel is modern, clean and well kept. You can tell the staff takes pride in this! There are 2 lifts available, so we never had long to wait. The rooms are small, as expected in Singapore. But there is sufficient space to stow-away your luggage under the bed. There is also a small space with a few hangers provided to hang clothes. Bathroom is small, but the shower is separated from the toilet by a glass screen: so the floor doesn't completely flood! This was a big PLUS. Some rooms have a fridge, but only the more expensive ones. No bottled water provided as tap water in Singapore is drinkable - so be environmentally conscious and just fill up your reusable bottles at the sink ;-) NEGATIVES: Although the beds were sufficiently comfortable, with crisp-clean cotton bedding, the mattresses and pillows are covered in a plastic waterproof mattress/pillow protectors. This unbreathable fabric made the beds a bit uncomfortable as it felt hot to sleep on. Thankfully the air conditioning in the room worked great. We understand this plastic sheeting helps keep the bedding free from nasty bedbugs, but it wasn't the most comfortable thing to lie on - it almost felt like you were sleeping on someone's couch. This was fine for one night, and you can probably get used to it if you stay longer of course... Only one pillow was provided per bed, as well as only one towel per person in the bathroom. As expected, the windows cannot be opened - so no surprise here. The sound-proofing between the rooms, and between the rooms and the corridor outside, is insufficient: you will end up hearing your neighbors as well as the other guests walking through the corridors - this is inevitable. However we found everyone was sufficiently quiet throughout the night, so we slept soundly. Bring ear-plugs if you're a light sleeper! If you like watching TV before bed, be advised that there aren't many channels in English and there's also poor reception. We haven't tried connecting our hard drive to their TV so I can't comment on that - we were only there for 1 night! Most rooms don't have a fridge, but their "Deluxe" rooms do. Unlike the Ibis Budget PEARL, there are no SAFE DEPOSIT BOXES available in the rooms here at the Ibis Budget Crystal.

The third of my 3 iBis Budget stays in Geylang. Feel free to compare the three reviews as you decide which of them you'd like to stay in. But for me, it's similar to the other 2 in that overall these are my go-to choice in Singapore for cheap(ish) rates, private rooms, and peace of mind. Things I particularly liked about this one: * WiFi stayed on the whole time on my device that had a problem at the other 2 Budgets. If I was on a work trip, that would likely be the tiebreaker for me to choose this one. * Once again I was able to check in a little early even though Accor Status doesn't count here thanks to the room being empty, which was nice. * Spacious, good lighting, good air conditioning. Things I didn't particularly like: * No safe at Crystal in my room. Pearl had a safe in the room to store valuables. Singapore is generally fine, but it's a nice peace of mind knowing everything is locked up and not bringing my passport and valuables around. * Shower water went all over the place like Emerald with the half glass partition thing. Pearl was the best for me of the three bathroom situations. * Crystal is in the most red-lighty location of the 3. It's still relatively subtle compared to other countries, but I'd probably choose Pearl or Emerald if I was walking around with children. Overall, I'll reiterate that when you look in the $60-$80 range around Singapore, these hotels are an amazing value. All three had positives, but also drawbacks. I'm pretty confident that I'll just keep choosing whichever is cheapest on my Singapore stays. You get the hotel vibe (if not hotel amenities), and the other patrons seemed to also be travelers on a budget which was nice when walking in and out. I've become used to taking the bus system to downtown and it's so easy. The metro is also a little bit of a walk if you're looking for that.

Good location. Safe and Peaceful environment. An idea and a significant budget Hotel. Guests were found mainly from Europe.Walking distance to the MRT Stations and the famous hawker center of Singapore - The Old Kallang Airport Food Centre. A Friendly and Professional staff named Nenny is highly commended.
