A 3 night stay over New Year and it wasn't a good experience. The 1st room I was offered was large with amazing views but freezing cold and an inefficient layout. No mirror over the small shelf that doubled as a dressing table; the hospitality tray located on the base of a clothes stand (no wardrobe) nowhere near a plug socket and a large bathroom with no heating. Condensation was heavy on the window, probably following the clean. I was taken to a much smaller room - again freezing and no heating in the bathroom and, discovered later, no properly functioning lighting. Dark shades over 2 of the lamps, no central light and something by the bed which looked like a bird cage and was heavy with cobwebs when I turned the light on. Same ridiculous non-wardrobe/hanging rail also housing the hospitality tray. Had to use the torch on my phone to adjust the heating control or get items out of my case. Heating was provided by an air con unit - completely inefficient as it was positioned over the bed and that was the only space that warmed. Maintenance arrived to find the temperature at 14 degs, despite the unit having been on for over an hour. The inadequate lighting and heating are potential health hazards for older people (I'm 72). My booking was with an external company so the poor to moderate at best food is an issue I've taken up with the company involved. However, as an example of the low standard of hospitality, I requested a single piece of fruit for dessert as both options on offer were ultra processed. I said I'd peel it/prepare it myself to be told it wasn't available for our party. I had a shower at around 4pm and struggled to put on my makeup due to the heavy condensation in the unheated bathroom. I made the mistake of leaving my make up bag on the window sill overnight. By morning, the condensation had formed a pool and the inside of the bag was drenched, rendering the brushes unusable. They were taken to reception to dry out on the oil radiator under the reception desk. Majority of the staff were young and appeared to have had little or no training. By all means employ young people but training is essential and the absence of it was evident in all sorts of ways. How this 'hotel' has a 4 star rating baffles me.

The hotel was well below the standard of a 4 star hotel. I had a large room with a view but these were the only two good points. My room was very cold, even with the heating turned up. The bathroom was something else. I have never stayed in a hotel in the UK before where there was no heating whatsoever in the bathroom and condensation poured down the large single glazed window. The lighting in the room was so poor that I had to use the torch on my phone to see inside my suitcase and there was a lack of storage space. The safe was too low for me to reach it. The food was very basic and labels were lacking, especially at lunchtime. I would have liked to know what was supposed to be in the sandwiches as the fillings were very skimpy and largely unidentifiable. At breakfast, items which ran out took a long time to replace, if at all, eg butter and brown bread. The New Year's dinner was disappointing. The room was quite cold. The duck starter contained little pellets of something chewy which looked more like dog food than crispy duck. The strawberries had been frozen and I have no idea what the marinade was. They were the same as the strawberries served at breakfast with a scoop of ice cream added. The hotel felt more like a warehouse than a hotel, with dark, cold corridors and the trek to the car park was not pleasant either. The only redeeming feature was the room where we were playing bridge which was actually warm and well lit.

It's hard to believe anyone could have designed this room. It had no wardrobe or drawers. It had a small hanging rail and one small drawer for all our clothes, most of which we had to leave in the suitcase. Not ideal for a 4 night stay over new year. There was no central light so you couldn't see to read or do much else. The bathroom was very cold. Our stay was all inclusive and, apart from the gala dinner on New Year's eve, the food was awful. There was no veg with the dinners and very little choice. The bar prices were extortionate. We won't be staying there again!

The hotel rooms were excellent and made the stay very enjoyable. The room was spacious, clean, and well organised, with everything needed for a comfortable visit. The bed was very comfortable, which made it easy to relax and sleep well each night. The room was quiet, nicely decorated, and felt welcoming from the moment I arrived. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything fresh and tidy throughout the stay.

Nice hotel on the river front and in town center with car park Ideal for attending function at Corn Exchange Bedford Staff were very friendly and view from 8th floor was great We stayed for now night and as time was limited we eat at the hotel. Price was reasonable compared to other hotels we have stayed in
