This was our first visit to Lexington and first stay in a 21c Museum hotel. Both were tremendous. The room was gorgeous, HUGE, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. The bathroom had plenty of countertop space, the shower was large and had good water pressure, the bed was super comfortable. The staff were very nice and helpful with figuring out a little walking tour to catch some of the great murals nearby (the hotel is also very well located). My only complaint was the AC sounded like a jet taking off when it rumbled to a stop. Otherwise it was surprisingly quiet - no road noise, elevator noise or other guest noise. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

I have been a fan of pretty much every 21C museum I’ve visited. This establishment and Cincinnati location are nearly tied for my top spot. 21C Lexington currently has a colorful, emotional, stimulating exhibition by local artist, Robert Morgan. While, according to the artist, the full meaning of these pieces will never be disclosed, you can see, and he implies, each work oozes love, sadness, fear, life, death. There is some eroticism and eccentricity as well. There were also exhibits by other artists, centering on identity, society, and how we relate to other people. The space is over 7000 feet, so would be great to have a party or function there. There is a good bit of paid parking nearby, but they also offer valet. They have an on-site bar and restaurant, and there are several other restaurants nearby. I did not stay in the hotel this time—just viewed the art, but every 21C I’ve stayed in has been clean, comfortable, and fun. And here in Lexington, the doorman was extremely kind and even gave us some bottled water for the hot day.

We are in Lexington as a last stop on a five day group cycling excursion along the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky. The organizers chose this hotel both for its unique character and ease of cycling to and from its location. The property aspires to be a combination of visual art and lodging. What seems lost is a conviction to the basics of lodging blocking and tackling. Service is friendly but spotty. Perhaps a training issue? The bigger issue is housekeeping. Our room has artifacts from previous guests both ( see pictures) suggesting room maintenance is done in “ drive by” mode. The artwork is nice but I’d trade it for a comprehensive vacuum and bathroom scrubbing.

Horrible experience overall. Website says room type assigned at check in. Only had single queen beds in the rooms because the room was TINY for a ridiculous cost. Front desk clerk was snippy. Valet took forever and was the most unprofessional looking valet I have ever seen. First AND last time in one of the 21c hotels.
