It is not very often when I don't think twice before giving hotel 5 star review. 21C in KC is one of those rare occasions. Well located, in downtown, but just few blocks away from craziness of Power&Light district. Easy to walk to and easy to drive to.... Front desk staff is simply wonderful! They went extra mile to make sure that our family is well taken care of, and provided platinum upgrade to tasteful and spacious suite. They even set up sofa for my daughter with linens and everything else needed. Every single person I dealt with during our 4 night stay was cheerful, pleasant, and helpful, no exceptions! Museum galleries were pretty interesting, as in other 21c hotels I visited (Nashville, Chicago). We haven't eaten breakfast in the restaurant, but stopped by for happy hour few times, and had light meal in their famed Savoy Restaurant. It was quite nice food and atmosphere, they also have good selection of drinks and wines. All in all, it was definitely the right hotel for us. Due to extreme heat we stayed inside the hotel more than we planned, but we were not bored. Can recommend this property without any second thoughts!

I’ve now stayed at almost every 21C hotel (I haven’t been to Iowa). Gets an overall five stars with some stronger points and some weaker points. Strong: the artwork this time around was poignant, the thought provoking, and cohesive. The restaurant and restaurant staff were outstanding (The Savoy, reviewed separately). Their room service was awesome too. The beds at 21C have always been comfy and I like their toiletry products. Weaker: The front desk staff was a mixed bag. Generally helpful and nice, but I was received more coolly here than some other places. Housekeeping. I 1000% understand we are still struggling with COVID and the economy and labor issues. And I don’t know who had my room previously, but there were several small shards of glass in the seating area, there was a pair of underwear behind the couch (which I didn’t touch and left there), and I somehow found a pair of dried up old contact lenses on the bedspread. Please note, the room was generally clean and well appointed, but the three things I mentioned were pretty big things. Also, if we aren’t going to go back to having minibars (which I’m fine with), can we have mini fridges in the rooms? I get you’re trying to up-sell room service, but I would just like to be able to chill my water or have something cool to drink without asking for a (too small) bucket of ice. Would stay again. The positive far outweighs the negative. Tip: no valet parking, but there is a garage across the street that charges 10 bucks a night.

4 star hotel that lives up to the hype. Great hotel with a great restaurant and bar. I travel between Kansas City and San Francisco frequently for work and I must say I was very impressed with this hotels cocktail selections and the service provided at the front desk by Saymoni and the bar by Ty.

Disappointing

I never write hotel reviews but could not pass the opportunity up - Sadly, we were extremely disappointed in the room and staff overall for the expense incurred! Very SMALL "Deluxe King" room. Our bathroom sink had not been cleaned. The AC did not work well (in Kansas in July, really? Come on!) it was stuffy from the moment we entered the room. Set the thermostat at 65 around 4:30 p.m., no change ALL NIGHT. Forget about a downtown KC view. All of the windows are frosted on the bottom half. When we checked out the desk clerk simply took the keys and asked if we wanted a receipt, no mention of 'how was your stay' - if you are not sure enough of the product you are selling to even ask your guest how they enjoyed their time at the property - there is something wrong. Upon mentioning the AC did not work well and it was stuffy/humid, she asked what room we were in, looked at her computer terminal with a disappointed expression, and said she'd have engineering check it out - without making eye contact. She could have cared less! I felt at that point there was no reason to mention the dirty sink. Too bad, we enjoy visiting KC. We will stay at reputable newer chain hotels over this! Proceed with caution when booking this hotel!

Repeat visit is in order!

Wonderful stay in this historic building. The Savoy Restaurant off the lobby is a special place in KC history with the Truman booth (his haberdashery was down the street) and beautiful stained glass windows. Friendly, helpful hotel staff, interesting art work in the public spaces and of course, the sky blue penguins, make for a repeat visit!
