Nice hotel, nauseating art…

The hotel was nice. Had everything we needed and was conveniently located in Louisville. If you are an “open minded” “art” enthusiast you might like it. Being a loyal patriot, I didn’t appreciate the wall-sized photo of an upside-down American Flag. This is not how a flag should be displayed. This is not art. It is disrespectful and disgusting, especially seeing it on Veterans Day. Calling this art only because it’s controversial and offensive is lazy. Shame on this hotel for allowing this to be displayed and shame on this artists imitator for passing this off as art.

Hi timothyn817, Thank you for sharing your experience at 21c Louisville. We are glad to hear that you found our hotel comfortable and convenient. Our current exhibition, This We Believe, explores a variety of perspectives on current issues and events. While the flag is flying upside down in Mitch Epstein’s photograph, Veterans Respond Flag, Sacred Stone Camp, Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, North Dakota 2017, the image is not intended as a critique of patriotism. The photograph was taken of a moving van driven by US veterans to deliver supplies to people protesting the installation of an oil pipeline on the Standing Rock reservation. The artist explains that “Traditionally, the American flag is flown upside down as a signal of distress. The iconography was adopted during the 1970s by the American Indian Movement (AIM) and other Native American protest groups as a symbol and signal of their longstanding distress caused by their mistreatment at the hands of the United States government.” These flags are intended to draw attention to what the Veterans Respond group perceive as infringements on American freedoms or civil rights. This exhibition will be changing in late January with a group show about the relationship between nature and technology. We hope you will return to 21c in the future. 21c Team,

I left my Dyson blow dryer (worth $700) in room 307 August 28. 2024. I called right away to say I left it. We called three times in 24 hours. The hotel said they didn’t have it in lost and found. We asked them to please check the room. They said they had a one week procedure to follow and would get back to us. They have not called or followed up. Whenever we call we get a run around. We feel like they did not try. Very disappointing. It ruined our time in Louisville.

What a top hotel! Well located within easy walking distance to all that downtown Louisville has to offer this was a great place to stay. The hotel has an art gallery in it with some truly top notch artworks on display. Staff were friendly and the place had a great vibe. The rooms are standard hotel fare, but the beds were comfy, the pillows not so much. They have a great bar and the bar food from Proof on Main was excellent. It's all about the bourbon in Kentucky, but they also had a great cocktail list. The hotel is adorned with large penguins that would pop up in random places making it such fun to see where you might find one. Overall a great stay.

Seriously fabulous experience! Drive up and greeted by valet, walk inside an art museum and the desk clerk cheerfully explains everything, shares tickets for free drinks from the bar and we are off to our wonderful room. We spent the evening exploring the art, including in the hallways, the elevators and the public bathrooms. Then had dinner in the hotel restaurant and every item we ordered was fresh and full of flavor, beautifully presented. Topped off the evening with an after dinner drink and more time with the art. Can't wait to stay at more 21c hotels around the midwest!

Looks great. But hollow on the inside. Yes hotel is clean. Rooms are very nice. But the service is lacking. No complimentary coffee for guests. The rooms operate on an eco friendly cooling system and are warm- unlike the lobby. Overall a meh experience- not worth the cost.

Our complimentary coffee is in-room Lavazza pods, but drip coffee is only available in the restaurant for purchase. Our guestroom HVAC is connected to a Honeywell energy management system which does have an affect on the room when in unoccupied status but should catch up quickly once re-occupied, we have this program at all 21c's and it is part of our sustainability efforts.
