The Movenpick Resort Sharm El Sheikh was rated a 5 star hotel by Love Holidays. I do not think this was an accurate reflection of the hotel. The hotel is located at a vantage point with great views of the Red Sea and the surrounding mountainous areas. The communal areas/facilities are decent too and so too are the beaches. However, the room which we were given was very average - not uninhabitable by any means but certainly not 5 star, perhaps not even 4 star. The room looked dated and it did not look like the room had seen much investment for a while in terms of decor. - In the hotel's communal areas (poolside, beaches etc), people selling services (eg: braiding hair, pedicure, massage etc) kept approaching us which got a little irritating. We just wanted to be left alone on our holiday so that we could relax - the constant intrusions were very off putting. Some of the hotel staff (especially the poolside (Salem), housekeeping (Moussa), restaurant (Fatallah) staff), buggy staff (Mohammad - photo attached (was a joy to be with)) were polite, kind and friendly. But some of the staff at the reception were rather rude and unhelpful. The worst of the reception staff was Omar who appears to have no idea as to how to serve customers. He was grumpy, unhelpful and looked thoroughly unhappy with his job. He was also terrible at communication and left us feeling confused and insulted on a number of occasions. I am surprised that the hotel found him to be a suitable candidate to be in a front house client facing role. My family and I are vegetarians and when we checked-in Omar said that meal boxes would be delivered to our rooms given the late hour. When we checked what would be sent, the items turned out to be meat dishes. We pointed out that we are vegetarians upon which Omar responded that a vegetarian alternative would be sent. When prompted as to what this would be, he mentioned that this would be salad. This did not meet our expectation. Eventually after a lot of cajoling and persuasion, some pasta was prepared and sent to our room, although this took about two hours and did require a fair bit of following-up from our side. One of the days we were staying at the hotel, we had gone on a day trip to Cairo.. When we returned there was no dinner organised for us as per norm. The hotel said that they did not know that we had gone to Cairo, which was untrue. They definitely did and had even packed us breakfast boxes in the morning. Once again, Omar was at the reception and was his usual unhelpful self. He asked us to go back to our rooms and ring the reception in this regard. He said our dinner would be sorted. When we did ring the reception, we were put through to the kitchen and attempts were made to charge us for the meal. Nothing of this sort was mentioned to us earlier. In the end we were so annoyed with the service and the poor communication that we just asked the hotel to do away with the food. By the end of our trip, we just wanted to get away from the hotel - we were so fed up with everything. Will not be returning to this resort. P.S. The Indian restaurant Rangolee is not included in the 'All Inclusive' package. So, do not book for the 'all inclusive' package if the restaurant is the attraction.

We had a great time again at this lovely hotel, returning the same week as last year. It was certainly busier than the previous year but that wasn't a problem at all. We stayed in one of the new rooms and the view was absolutely stunning. If there was to be an negatives I would say that the music by the Pool was far too loud, and a lot of it not age appropriate for children. We will be coming back again next year

10 WONDERFUL DAYS AT MOVENPICK

Just back from 10 wonderful days at the Movenpick Sharm el Sheikh with friends. We stayed in the newly renovated rooms; slept like logs on the incredibly comfortable mattresses and watched stunning sunsets from our balcony which had panoramic sea views. Special thanks to Front of House Manager Mohamed Abou Zeid who was so helpful and also Sherif and Tarik in the main restaurant who looked after us with such warmth and care. The hotel staged really lovely Valentine's evening for all the guests and there is a sense that all the staff genuinely want you to have a good time and go our of their way to make that happen. We loved the snorkelling straight off the hotel beaches along with a speedboat trip we took with Captain Tarek who located the most amazing coral reefs further out at sea teaming with fishes; it was a highlight of our stay and highly recommended. This was a return trip to the Movenpick and the hotel goes from strength to strength. I can't wait to be back again.

The stay at this hotel left incredibly pleasant impressions! The hotel itself is very cozy, with beautiful views and an atmosphere of relaxed comfort. The cuisine is beyond praise - a variety of dishes, fresh products and delicious desserts made every meal special. But most of all I would like to note the staff. People here do not just do their job - they sincerely care about the guests, creating comfort and coziness. Huge thanks to Ehab and Salem who works at the pool - incredibly attentive, friendly, always ready to help and make rest by the water even more enjoyable. Animators Sasha and Misha are simply the best! Their energy, positivity and creativity made every day rich and fun. Thanks to them there was a feeling of a real holiday.

A great stay at movenpick

There was a large group of us over 15 staying at Movenpick. The team was very accommodating and always willing to help. They did not make us feel like we were a burden to them. The hotel is very beautiful and glad we chose it. All the staff were very friendly. Location was around 15/20 mins from airport and about 25 mins from the old town (if I remember correctly). The hotel rooms were very nice, most guest stayed in queen/King rooms and they were a bit more spacious than other king rooms I have previously stayed in. I would say that from what I noticed, the facilities are not 100% disabled friendly. They do have wheelchairs ramps etc but there are a lot of stairs and the ramps are not always next to the stairs. Food wise it was very nice and a good selection from freshly grilled fish to soup to pizza to more traditional Egyptian options like okra tagine. Out of the all inclusive that I have stayed in this has one of the best tasting options. The other restaurants you do have to pay for to eat in. Special shout out to Mohamed the restaurant manager. He was great to my group. Always made sure we were comfortable and got us anything we needed. Rooms were very clean. We did had to call for them to tidy our room some times ( I think there was some miscommunication between us and the cleaner and using the cleaning sign) but once called the cleaner came to clean relatively soon. Had good beach options and some good on site entertainment. When we went it was not crazy but a good amount of people. Overall it was a great stay and would definitely go back.
