I was attending an event near Kyoto Station. The hotel was not only conveniently located nearby, my room was strategically located with direct view of the Kyoto Tower. Beautifully lit at sunrise and neon lit at night - it was perfect. Excellent hospitality with acceptable breakfast variety with excellent coffee.

Although it says Mecure Kyoto Station it's 3-4 streets away on the outer edge.... We stayed for 2 nights here and basically there is only 2 types of rooms... a twin or queen sized bed rooms. Breakfast was below average in my opinion and staff at reception seemed unsure when I asked them simple basic questions. We had some complimentary drinks to use which we used, and we were made to feel like thieves we we used them being asked numerous times and showing 3 times in front of them when we used them. I wont stay here again even though it was cheap.

This was our first time in Kyoto and as we were arriving by Train we booked this hotel. However the name Mercure Kyoto station is a bit deceiving as it’s a good ten mins walk which wasn’t that easy when pulling luggage and the entrance was down a dark side street! We got a taxi to bring us back to Station when we left. Other than that the hotel itself was lovely. We had a spacious room overlooking the city, Very comfortable bed for a good nights sleep and all the amenities you needed were there. We didn’t use the restaurant as there was a huge choice of places to eat in the local area.

Scam on many fronts

A scam on multiple fronts. I’ve just checked into the hotel, 2 x Accor gold members in 2 rooms. They asked me to pay for an upgrade, after confirming that my room has not been upgraded. There are privilege rooms available, but they said I’d have to pay for that. Geepa specifically said I was not upgraded. I asked to speak with the manager, they said there is none at 9:30pm. Rubbish. I asked when they would be in, they said 12pm tomorrow. When I pressed further, apparently manager Sata is now coming in at 9am. ????? I’ve never heard of a hotel where there is no manager during the night. When they say Kyoto station, it’s about a 15 min walk, down a side street as you approach. Definitely a scam. Phone doesn’t work in the room, rooms are small, roof is very low. I’ll see if manager Sata could be bothered to contact me at 9am tomorrow, or they’ll just respond publically saying to email them to save face in public. Balls in your court to resolve this situation.

Our 3 night stay at Mercure Kyoto Station was by far the highlight of our 2 week vacation in Japan. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Kyoto Station. For 2 senior citizens, it was an easy walk, even in the high temperatures and humidity of September. We liked that the hotel was in a quiet residential area, but still close to the Kyoto Station. I enjoyed interacting with local residents, even with my limited Japanese. Our room was spacious, quiet and clean. The bed was so comfortable. I slept like a baby. Everything that we needed was provided. The shower was fantastic. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't visit the hotel restaurants, which we regret. If we are fortunate enough to return to Kyoto, this is where we will stay.
