Disappointing Stay: Broken AC, Empty Promises, and Poor Management (Accor Platinum)

Rating: 2/5 As an Accor Platinum member, I expected a certain standard of service and recognition at Tribe Perth, but this stay was a letdown from start to finish. First, despite my status, there was no room upgrade offered. Unfortunately, the room I was assigned had a completely broken air conditioner. After a miserable first night, I was moved to a second room, only to find that it had a faulty thermostat where I couldn't control the temperature. The biggest issue, however, is the management. I was promised a 50% refund for the first night due to the lack of AC. I later received an email from Maria (Reservations/Reception) stating that because the refund transaction failed on their end (claiming it was reversed by the card provider), they are simply "unable to proceed" with the refund. There was no attempt to find an alternative solution (like a bank transfer or points adjustment); just a flat refusal to honour the compensation because of a technical glitch. It feels incredibly dishonest to acknowledge a failure, promise a refund, and then revoke it because processing it was difficult. Between the uncomfortable nights and the dismissive service from management regarding the refund, I cannot recommend this hotel. Status seems to mean very little here.

The tiny exposed Box.

Staying at this hotel felt like being confined in a tiny black box, exposed to everyone outside. The lack of fresh air and minimal space made the experience even more unbearable. The bathroom was cramped and foul-smelling, equipped with a glass door that had large gaps, offering no privacy at all. While they advertised parking, the obnoxious receptionist bluntly informed me upon my arrival that only seven parking bays were available. The rest of us would have to scavenge for a spot on the street if we were lucky enough to find one. I had called the hotel ahead of time, and they had assured me that everything was under control, including the parking situation. To top it all off, the fire alarm blared at 5 a.m. on Sunday, shattering any semblance of peace. This was an absolutely dreadful experience that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Compact & thoughtful - An excellent offering for the price -

I really enjoyed this hotel! Clean, funky, quirky and unpretentious, its locality is very central to the CBD with free CAT buses running into town regularly. The rooms were compact but full of thoughtful details including suitcase storage nooks under the bed, high quality Kevin Murphy hair & body products, T2 tea, Nespresso machine (although the coffee downstairs is awesome). The Lobby was just great to hang out in. I had dinner at the restaurant in the night I arrived and it was awesome. The grab & go option was handy (& delicious), as I arrived back late on a Sunday evening to find the restaurant and room service closed - my only disappointment really, but minor and could’ve been easily mitigated if I’d been a bit more organised, there’s some excellent dining in Leederville just a short cab drive away. Honestly, I’ve travelled extensively and this was an excellent offering for the price.

Unique Experience at Tribe – Definitely Different ! !

This hotel truly has something unique. There’s no gym — but hey, there’s a park right next door! There’s no space for your luggages — but there’s a clever little den under the bed, perfect for those of us who aren’t so young anymore. The rooms aren’t spacious — all in a Japanese minimalist style — but the corridors are wide enough to stretch your legs. There’s no working phone in the room, but there is a number you can call (in my case, an international one) and then wait patiently to figure out which key to press to reach the operator. There’s no water in the minibar, but you can grab a nice glass carafe from the bar. Small details make all the difference, creating an experience that’s certainly unique and a little different. Even the hot water adds a touch of artistry: it runs from the left in the shower and from the right in the sink — a sure sign that an artist has passed through here. What really saves the day is the incredibly kind and helpful staff, who make all these quirks feel almost charming. So cheers to the Tribe community...
