We stayed at Mantra for 3 nights on our roadtrip from Christchurch to Milford Sound and 1 night on our return drive What we liked: - good space for 6 pax - well- equipped kitchen - common hot tub - walking distance to Lake Tekapo n Church - generally clean What could be improved: - one of the bathrooms was a bit smelly - creaky floors - slow replies with email and chat correspondence with accomodation team

One of the worst hotel experiences of my life

This has been one of the worst if not the absolute worst experiences at a hotel. Opening the door and was greeted with a foul smell, with all the windows and doors being opened for hours did not dissipate. In addition with the windows open all night by morning the smell was still strong. Minus the smell, we could tell right away that the accommodations has not been cleaned in some time. Crumbs all over the floor, table and counter tops. Random pieces of fabrics, crumbs and plastic on the carpets. The coffee machine had left over coffee grounds that had been molded over. Fixtures throughout had crusted over dust present. The fridge had crumbed throughout and left over gunk from someone previously. Adding to the cleanliness issue was a safety issue, not all of the doors locked easily plus the attic hatch was ajar. The beds were less than desirable. Though clean sheets - the two bigger beds were twins pushed together that were completely lopsided. Would not recommend the use of this hotel in any way.

Stayed just one night check in was easy & friendly we are gold members the welcome drinks have to be collected at another nearby hotel which is a bit odd. The unit was very clean although I did have to empty the clean dishwasher myself. It unit has many heating options although the master bed only had an electric blanket for half the bed haha I also thought there would be cooking stuff like oil & tomato sauce ect no big deal just a heads up. It’s a well equipped unit. In a nice area. I wish there was a bath a robes 🤣🤣

We arrived after 4 hour drive very tired and very surprised how lovely it was, after ok motels and accomodation this was a great surprise, granted it was the most expensive place on our trip but it was absolutely huge and had everything you could possibly need to have a great stay,including pool (freezing) and spa (boiling), great place

Located in a great spot - very warm and comfortable place to stay - we were lucky enough to see snow! Highly recommend for families - we travelled with my parents and didn’t feel on top of each other. Everyone had enough space.
