Lack of empathy from management - buyer beware

We booked a one night stay via Expedia and accidently selected the wrong night. Despite trying to immediately contact the hotel to rectify the situation we were unable to talk to somebody until the following day. The manager refused to re-book our accommodation to the following night and held tight to the full fee. It was a simple mistake which we owned but they showed no empathy in assisting with a re-book and greedily took the full fee for us not staying at the hotel. I feel this was very poor behaviour, not very understanding and obviously profit driven.

However, since your booking was made through Expedia, we were unable to make any changes to it directly, hence the staff member you spoke to you on that weekend advised you to reach out to Expedia and request the desired changes. The staff member also advised you that we have no issues accepting a different date, but the changes must come through the travel agent and in this case, it would have been Expedia. This is a standard practice throughout the industry therefore even if we try the system doesn't allow us to change the dates directly on our side. Once you contact the travel agent, they will then contact us to see if we are ok with the changes and we always approve it subject to availability. Mr Admas, we understand that changes in plan do happen and sometimes we do make mistakes with dates, and we would always try our best to come up with best possible solution for our guests. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly if you wish to discuss it further or if I can be any further assistance. Sincerely Hotel Manager

We had a wonderful stay at the Mantra Lake Tekapo in a 1 bedroom apartment. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the manager Yusef who had the apartment ready for us and also offered discounted rates to multiple local attractions which was great. He also helped us with providing information and maps for the various local attractions which was very useful. We then went to our apartment which far exceeded our expectations. There was an automatic garage, washing machine with detergent supplied, a lovely front and back patio. The lounge room, dining and kitchen were huge and fully equiped. In particular the lounge room was a standout with the large comfy leather couches and the fireplace that we used every night that we stayed there. The bedroom was also large with a huge walk in wardrobe with plenty of room to store everything. The bed was very comfortable and cloud-like, the room heater had the bedroom nice and toasty warm during the 0-1 degree nights. But what really impressed us was the bathroom. The shower was large with great water pressure and shampoo, conditioner and bodywash supplied but it was the heated floor tiles that blew us away. Expecting to step onto cold tiles but instead having these lovely warm tiles in the morning and at night when we knew it was freezing outside felt quite luxurious and special. The whole apartment was clean, spotless and well maintained and we didn't expect a turndown service either which was a pleasant surprise. The wi-fi was also very fast and we streamed tv shows and movies while lying on the comfy leather lounges in front of the fireplace in the evenings. Location-wise, you couldn't ask for better. The Mantra is literally located just on the outskirts of Tepako town so you are away from the tourists. shops and hostel. However, it is a 4 minute walk to the town via a footbridge right behind the Mantra apartments as well as and the Church of the Good Shephard. Driving to town is only 3 minutes, 4 minutes to the Four Square Supermarket and 7 minutes to get to Tekapo Springs. So thank you to Yusef and the Mantra Lake Tekapo for a wonderful stay. We highly recommend staying here.

Gorgeous accommodation. Very spacious with everything you need including a laundry! Lovely courtyard and cosy log fire. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Very helpful reception. A very nice place to stay we felt totally at home. Although it’s at the far end of “ town”

From the excellent service, and free rides to the hot springs from Porush Singh, to the lovely fully equipped and very spacious Villa, to the very close location to Lake Tekapo,I highly recommend a stay here! A+++ All rooms are fully heated and the bathroom floors are also self heating and temperature controlled so a winter stay is very comfortable

When we arrived we were concerned that the complex is adjacent to the main highway . Check in is in a small room with the most disinterested check in ever . We were allocated number 1 that is the unit closest to the highway and almost impossible to get your car into the parking space due to entrance gates . On entering the unit looks tired and in need of some TLC upstairs you have again a tired looking room but bathroom and our bedroom was clean . You have a balcony front and rear . Rear looks out over a neighbor’s yard with old coach and scrap metal front overlooks the complex bin store - so we had the pleasure of early morning bin collection We were told there was a BBQ - even though it’s now chilly we have used at previous stops so thought good idea . Wrong it was filthy and gas disconnected . The complex has garden edges and it tells me they are not really interested in you as a guest as some of the wood chipping has found it’s way into the gutters and it’s not regularly swept up Back inside the unit it has a big preset gas fire press button to fire up the book said - didn’t work Dishwasher - appeared stuck on rinse mode no instruction book Washing machine - filthy on top and no instruction book TV - not that we watch much but again no instructions on how to use We decided a walk to the lake was needed so just dumped bags and went out - horrified to find when we closed curtains that patio doors had been left unlocked I’m sure that they get plenty of clients for skiing but this place could be so much better with some care and attention - curtain photos
