Hotel is in a wonderful location with beautiful views and close to public transport. Rooms (particularly waterfront ones) are nice and roomy with good facilities. With no “Accor” restaurant this is disappointing and the on-site restaurant Sunny’s lets the hotel down. Meals are restricted and menu is odd.

I booked a room through Agoda for a weekend stay (7 June 2025) at The Sebel Hotel. Upon arrival, we discovered that the assigned room had a strong smell of paint and poor air circulation, posing a serious health hazard. With no alternative solution provided, we were left with no choice but to vacate the hotel, which disrupted our plans. Despite the circumstances and the fact that the reservation was prepaid, the hotel ultimately refused to issue a refund. During the room inspection, the reception staff stated that he had a nasal condition and was unable to assess the issue. He also claimed that the hotel was fully booked and could not offer an alternative. When I explained that I could not risk my family's health by staying in the room, he then mentioned that one room was still available. Unfortunately, that room had the same issue. I later learned that several rooms had been recently painted, and due to poor air circulation, the strong odor persisted. This points to a significant failure in hotel management and poses a serious risk to guest safety. I requested to speak with the manager and cancel my booking, but the Sebel staff informed me that the manager was unavailable and could not be contacted immediately. I was told the only option was to email the manager regarding my refund request. I proceeded to send the email and then left the hotel with my family. The manager ignored this and a subsequent email. In his response to my third email, five days later, he arbitrarily dismissed the issue and refused to provide a refund. When I contacted Agoda, the service team informed me that The Sebel had confirmed no solution would be offered. Despite stating, 'Agoda is committed to supporting our customers in any way we can, so we'd like to help regardless of the property's decision,' the team ultimately provided no assistance.

Dearjiajieh2025, we have responded to your multiple review and requests, as advised the room had no issues nor did the alternate offered, nothing had been painted, your request to cancel on arrival, due to no onsite parking available was also declined as you booked a no cancel or amend rate.

Reception functional and professional no issues with check in Generous sized room with big comfy bed a low two seater and a tiny dining table Zero views from my balcony Quite location and great bathroom Functional kitchenette Wifi and data coverage were hit n miss Didnt eat here or use facilities Lift was slow and couldn't use stairs Near beach and about 25 min pleasant walk to main strip

We stayed in a suite room overlooking the water. The room was very nice, clean and spacious with a small kitchenette and large bathroom. Wardrobe is tiny. On check in I found the staff to be friendly and fast. There is a lovely boardwalk and path along the waterfront and you could walk for a very long way. Other than that, there is not much else at Margate Beach. A take away/restaurant fish shop, which was very nice and a chicken shop. We had drinks and ate at the restaurant downstairs and found out that it is not connected with the hotel. Other than one nice young girl working casual, the staff don't really want to be there and were not hepful to anyone who had an Accor drink voucher. The food was fine though.

Wir kamen gegen 9.30mim Hotel an. Ein Zimmer stand (wie wir erwarteten) nicht zur Verfügung, würde aber bald fertig sein. Für einen früheren Bezug als 14.00 müssten wir allerdings eine Gebühr bezahlen - wo gibt es denn so etwas??? Aber gegen 12.00 könnten wir nachfragen. Das Zimmer war zu dieser Zeit immer noch nicht fertig. Gegen 1300 wurde uns gesagt, es sei in Kürze verfügbar, die Reinigung müsste nur noch kontrolliert werden. Um kurz nach 1400 konnten wir endlich einziehen. Uns wurde in der ganzen Zeit kein Getränk irgendwelcher Art angeboten und eine Kommunikation von Seiten der Rezeption beschränkte sich auf das Nötigste. SEHR UNFREUNDLICH! Damit war der erste Eindruck des Hotels schon einmal ein schlechter. Die Zimmer sehen schön aus, sind aber für Reisende völlig ungenügend eingerichtet: keine Ablagemöglichkeiten im Bad, nur eine Aufhängemöglichkeit für ein Badehandtuch, nichts für Handtücher, keine Schubladen am Bett, kein Stift mit Papier - man lebt also aus der Tasche, die auf dem Fussboden lieg! UNMÖGLICH! Hätte das Hotel nicht eine sehr schöne Aussicht gehabt, wäre es bei uns völlig durchgefallen. Unter diesen Umständen würden wir das Hotel auf keinen Fall für einen längeren Aufenthalt empfehlen - und das Verhalten der Rezeption ärgert uns noch heute!
