Lovely hotel and staff. Great food ( breakfast, evening buffets were tasty and plentiful and much nicer than usual standard and Liberates bar provided good alternative options ). Drinks and food prices on a par with other restaurants in area. Rooms were large and well equipped. Spa was brilliant and pool area/ sea front amazing. Public areas were lovely, clean, spacious with live music( pianist and violinist) most days at breakfast, and late afternoon/ evening. Lovely touch being given glass of sparkling wine upon arrival too.The only odd thing for the stay was the need to have towel cards? I’m sure there is a valid reason but I’m unclear what this was. Overall an amazing location, hotel and staff - well worth a stay.

Great Quiet Location close to Town

We picked this as Hilton was unavailable and the Rixos ticked all boxes—twin beds, outdoor terrace, breakfast included, pool/beach, and walkable to the old town. Such a beautiful view from our room although must admit we weren’t happy with the construction noise. Room was nice but bed was a bit too soft and the room had a strange smell after being closed up all day but dissipated when patio doors were left open. Surprisingly, the May weather was great and we had a few wonderful afternoons on the sundeck and in the ocean. It was fun watching the day trippers hike down to the beach and then drift over to the hotel’s beachfront chairs and even dive off the hotel’s rock walls. I’m not sure if these kids are local or from the nearby youth hostel but they all knew where the indoor toilets and showers were. The hotel was such a calm respite from the crowds in the old town so we tended to limit our visits to old town to late afternoon. It was a nice walk (although uphill on the return). We would have dinner there and then stop a nearby wine bar which was considerably cheaper than the same wine at the hotel. Also, as it was open air and 4 levels it was easy to avoid cigar smoke, unlike on the main lobby terrace bar. Despite some shortcomings, I would stay here again.
