Impersonal Hotel, small Room!

The Ibis Styles Hotel in Bamberg unfortunately was not my favorite place we stayed in during our recent vacation in Germany. The location was excellent; I have no complaints about that. We could walk to the old city, the pedestrian zone and the main bus station in minutes. There were restaurants, cafes and shops all along Lange Strasse as well. The hotel itself unfortunately had a very impersonal, detached kind of feeling. It starts with the entrance being on the street level, but you have to take an elevator to the 1st floor to get to the front desk. The receptionist was polite yet impersonal, as was all of the staff we encountered during our 5-night stay. I really liked that fancy coffee, tea and water were available all day and evening in the breakfast room, and that guests were allowed to sit and rest from sightseeing anytime with a free cappuccino or latte. Our room was tiny! It looked about 3 times its size on the website (and was priced accordingly!). Once we had moved in with our luggage, there was barely room to turn around anymore. There was no closet and exactly 3 hangers for two people to hang our clothes on 3 wall hooks. There was only space for one round stool, a small bistro-type table in the corner, and two little round nightstands with barely enough room to place an e-reader and a cell phone on them. Very impractical! A room that size could work, if there were well thought out. built-in storage possibilities, like a cruise cabin would offer. Even more puzzling given the kind of modern vibe, there were no charging stations for our electronics. We had to dig out our standard plug adapter and use our charger plugs. The bathroom luckily had more space to place our toiletries, and the shower was nice. It all was very clean; I give them that. Breakfast was not included but we added it when I made the reservation. The breakfast room was too small for the number of guests on several mornings during our stay. The buffet was very good with a lot of choices, both continental and hot (scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage), with fresh bread, rolls and pastries. Given the size and impracticality of the room, I would not stay at the Ibis Styles again.

Charged double for the room after I left the hotel

There was a glitch on their booking site and they charged me for 2 rooms because I didn't cancel 24 hours in advance of a room I had no idea about. When I booked the room, I received an error message that my request could not be processed. I used the back button and resubmitted it. Two rooms were booked back to back, I only accepted one, and they absolutely refused to take off one room. They waited till I left the hotel to charge me for that second room. A complete 0 on customer service. Do yourself a favor and just stay at a nicer hotel if they are going to charge the customer double anyway. I also paid for the higher cancellation rate as well and early check in. I clearly didn't receive either.

We stayed here 4 nights and we felt that it was worth upgrading to the IBIS styles rather than the standard Ibis. We particularly liked the fact that you could help yourself to coffee and tea in the lounge/breakfast area. We had great sleep ( in contrast to the Heidelburg Ibis where the traffic noise was terrible) and the general ambiance was very quiet.

Good value for money

Stayed at the Ibis Styles for 2 nights. Requested quiet room to the back, which worked just fine. This hotel is on the main road, which leads you straight to all the attractions you want to see. As is the nature of Ibis hotels, it was basic but very clean, all staff were very friendly, and I would most certainly stay there again.

76lyns Friends getaway - Ulasan TripAdvisor tersertifikasi

The hotel was in a great location but the room was so small and no where to sit to relax. We asked for a chair and no response. Also two very thin pillows on our twin beds. We did ask for 2 more which took over an hour to arrive. The room walls are paper thin so you can hear every conversation from next door, they so have a free water tea and coffee station, would not recommend
