Fantastic views, but major irritant is the nickel-and-diming of guests, extra charges for internet as an example. Yes, Accor members have internet charges credited @checkout, but that also doesn't go well with $500 room pricing - and is not posted anywhere! Short-sighted.

After having grown up in San Francisco and watching the TV series "Hotel," I finally got a chance to stay at the world-famous Fairmont Hotel. We loved the view from our room in the Fairmont Tower - gorgeous views of the Bay and the Transamerica Pyramid. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious. The bathroom was also a good size, although it looked a little dated, with brown marble tile. The air conditioning worked well, which was important, since the windows do not open. Speaking of looking dated, the lobby and the Laurel Court restaurant could use some updating. The R-C down the hill is a bit more modern. And, I'm glad I had a package which included a complimentary breakfast for two (value $90) as the Laurel Court breakfast was VERY expensive. We used up the entire $90 with just a coffee, glass of orange juice, an order of eggs benedict (with ham, not salmon), and a Fairmont Classic breakfast (2 eggs, toast, sausage, breakfast potatoes), plus tax and tip.

the hotel is well located, away from the crowd, yet close to ambiance and shops. I really loved the room size and view! a few minor upkeep issues, such as cleaning the radiator cover, as you can see shoe prints. a bit disappointed with the mattress. other than that, customer service was great. I was satisfied.

room was immaculate, bathroom is beautiful decorated in marble. Be it a shower or a lounging bath, it’s a pampering experience. The lobby, restaurant, outdoor terrace were delights. Service at arrival, check-in, assistance with bags though checkout were completed seamlessly and with pride and enthusiasm. Fairmont my benchmark for travel, for me the San Francisco hotel is the finest US location.
