Water Disruption Across 12 Rooms, No Compensation

Stayed at Manchester Portland for 8 nights with 14 rooms, and we faced a water disruption affecting all rooms. Despite this serious issue, the hotel only compensated 2 rooms, which is unacceptable, especially given the health and safety risk of having no water. However, the front office staff, especially Cindy, was very nice and helpful throughout. Unfortunately, management’s response was minimal. As a Platinum member, this was my worst experience with Accor—would not recommend.

Not worth the price

The room was very small for the price I payed £250 for Saturday night alone The bathroom was cramped - the sink is behind the door The water was not working the last night of my stay I would not recommend this place Will be looking for else where for future stays in Manchester

Good hotel for a city break

Fab hotel, right on Picadilly Gardens. Staff friendly and let us check in early. Room clean and comfortable with aircon. View was a bit of a disappointment as it was an internal room. Good breakfast choices (buffet style). Gluten free bread/toast available on request. Didnt need parking as we arrived by train. Would stay again, good choice for a city break.

Everything great but no hot water all weekend...

Let's look at the plus points first - great location, minutes from all city centre attractions, it's quirky design makes it unique and a great talking point, cleanliness as good as can be, room spacious, clean with good size bathroom, bed comfortable and warm, despite being on street side, little or no ambient noise, heating perfect, check in, trouble free and quick, buffet-style breakfast plentiful with a choice of cold and hot food, as the greeter said, help yourself to as much or as little of what you want (sadly no marmalade - seems odd). So far so good... now on to the negative bits - I'd be scratching my head here, there were no noisey guests in next room, which one angry guest seemed to blame hotel for, my room was spacious and certainly big enough for two. It was clean, no complaints here, room service, no complaints here either. I had shelving for my clothes, so another tick, also a grass covered bedside cabinet, fun, my plugs and sockets worked - so what was wrong? Yes, like many the shower. Coldish, never hot, not warm, not cold but merely Luke warm, a quick In n out case. The receptionist seemed surprised when it was mentioned, but shouldn't have been, it's been the same for weeks according to reviews. It was the talking point in the lift on Saturday morning. It's been raised here on a number of times throughout October, and despite responses from management to the contrary it has not yet been fixed. This needs to be addressed with some urgency as after three days without washing properly it does start to become an issue for guests. An odd response to from reception, "You didn't book directly with us, so we can't do anything about it" surprised me too. I've no doubt management will again say they will sort it out, like they have said most of the month. That does little to rectify the problem we endured - so again, despite management's usual response on hoping such an issue didn't affect our stay too much, hoping we'd be back again, it does affect one's view on the hotel, in so much as promises and assurances made weeks earlier have not been fulfilled.

Be careful not to stay at the back

Nice hotel BUT be careful where they put you as my room was right at the back and apart from when teams stop over night you have little chance of any sleep I am afraid. Bar area and staff really nice but only slept when teams weren't running as you can hear them every couple of minutes
